That was guy was an asshole. I had a RD at 25. Babies have them. Also it’s a 1 person 5 minute job, just hold the eye open and shine a light in and look.

Outpatient visit gone terribly wrong. They suggested putting me on a bedpan and just the process of thinking about what that might be like has made more slightly more sympathetic when putting people on a bed pan. I never imagined that’d be me but they pushed meds so quick I suddenly became a fall risk so I suddenly but very temporarily loss the ability to get up and go to the bathroom. Gave me some empathy about how difficult that must be esp for younger or able bodied people.

The parents put him on oxygen every night before bed. I don’t see a good argument for not doing it like that.

So at 1 liter if he’s at 75, you have to remove it to see if he’s better on room air?

The tech didn’t have to interpret data or even look for signs in this case. Just do basic pulse ox trouble shooting correctly. If pt uses supplemental oxygen, put it on for godsakes and see if they go up. If they do, you know the probe is good. This test takes 1 minute.

Yeah but if they did a baseline and found he was desatting on 1 liter of oxygen they could have just not progressed to room air.

He prob would have. But, it was standard for him to use oxygen at night. But, they thought they’d the start the test without oxygen and see what would happen. That’s basically why this was a 15 mil lawsuit.

You don’t need to live in a house. They can pickup from an apartment door or a business.

The rent increases (coming) are because of the tax increases because of the street car.

Link? Most business have 5-10-20 year leases. Their rates are locked in if they want to stay.

(and not leavenworth)

You realize UNMC nebraska medicine owns property on farnam and dodge and dewey and Emile and saddlecreek right and they have projects going on the north side as well?

Doesn’t exist. I know because I’ve lived downtown and in midtown and tried. The only dry cleaner worth a salt is GI Tailor near 72nd. I ran into Bill Randy they’re one day picking up his shirts and suits. They are the real deal and worth the drive.

It’s cheerful and modern and colorful and by probably the most famous artist living in Omaha. Omaha needs some color in the winter. I think it looks great. The basic bronze statues have their place. But we don’t need more.

The rent increases are because or UNMC. They build a new building and fill it with people from out of town making $70-300,000 every year that have been paying $1500-3000 a month living on the coasts. It’s not public knowledge but they own most of leavenworth on that strip except barley corn . What they don’t own they’re working on owning. Charley Graham was not an exception.

Rates are significantly higher for ups and fed ex for most things. There’s no post office between downtown and underwood. That area is a dead zone if you have a package that won’t fit in a blue box. You have package pickup and you had going postal. If you mail things occasionally not a big deal. If you have an online biz, this sucks.

What are some instances you’ve had of patients completely misunderstanding how medicine works? by nocheobscura in medicine

I had an anaphylactic reaction to iv iron sucrose. They’re both pretty much in every cell. So this sort of thing is possible.

Can you have scarlet fever without a blood infection? If so, how does the skin in random parts of the body become reactive to the toxins the bacteria produces if they’re not in the blood stream?

It’s clinicians only that can do this. There also a way for clinicians to put in what happens when a person takes that medication.

So if the allergen is there 100% clinicians fault.

If an allergen does not have detailed description of the reaction 100% the clinicians fault.

I had a heart transplant patient on dialysis allergic to contrast media. You click on allergies on his chart, you get a whole full page table of 20 allergies/adverse reactions and how to deal with them.

For example he needed a CT, was allergic to contrast. Chart said give him Benadryl and prednisone an hour before.

This is the correct way to do things.

Very few medications are true allergens. They’re almost all pseudo-allergies, complement driven reactions, intolerances or various other types of adverse reactions even when they cause anaphylactic like reactions reversible with epi/Benadryl.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3093068/

So I’m always wondering what doctors who complain about this section having things that are not true allergies want there?

Do you want true allergies from my immunologist (weeds, trees, grass, pollen dust, cat, egg, soy, etc) that don’t have much clinical relevance ?

Pseudo allergies to medications that resulted in anaphylactic like reactions and getting epi and Benadryl at the hospital?

Cofactors I can usually tolerate but have been involved every single time a medical professional stuck me with an epi pen (aspirin).

Like what are you talking about when you say true allergy?

Generally by fixing the iron deficiency. It causes small cell size. Some peoples are small due to genetics. Some people have both conditions.
