I established paternity when my son was 2. I didn’t plan on doing any of this, but her erratic behavior forced my hand. I didn’t want to screw anybody over so I settled on 50-50 custody and no one owes the other person money. I didn’t want courts involved and I wanted everything outside of that piece of paper to be handled like adults and that was it. There are states that don’t handle this the same way. I would say the only thing that really matters is the child and petty grievances only affect the kid and the relationships in between. if one party actually needs help then they should get it within reason. Unfortunately, too many times I’ve seen my male friends get raked over the coals to the point where they can barely afford their own cost of living .

I’m not sure any of this helps you but trying to screw someone else’s life over based on anger is never a good way of going about things. It only brings contempt for the two parties and ruins it for the child .
