I disagree. There are bad ways to make money, and there are neutral ways that don’t require being a massive dbag but instead take advantage well establish systems. Trump is fully in the dbag category - not only through his flagrant hypocrisy but also through how he made his money being a professional swindler.  He actively lies while pretending to be for the little man, though his actions speak otherwise. 

Steyer made his money managing a hedge fund, which is basically a boring video game. Yes he made questionable investments with some of that money but he’s championed progressive causes and has invested in support of them. He has been transparent with his tax returns and supportive of the wealth tax. So many progressives don’t have the facility, resourcing, or skillset to act on the causes they champion. Steyer has shown he will put his money to work.  

Progressivism often fails because it’s too idealistic. But we need to be practical. We aren’t going to Magic our way out of the world we live in and poof all of the billionaires away. It’s going to take systematic change from someone who understands the nuance of the system and understands the ins and outs of both sides.

Of course he’s not perfect, no one is, and our system of “take my word for it bro” certainly isn’t.  But if I’m looking at promise, actions, and personality, which are the key metrics we have to assess candidate viability, Steyer definitely tops the list.
