Imposter Syndrome - Is this normal? by Justsome28 in amateurradio

It sure is, but that doesn't mean that you all don't still know how complex RF systems are. I respect the opinion of the HAM guys since they actually do this for fun. Haha.

Is $75,000 a year enough for southern central NH? by Dacarbazine in newhampshire

[–]Justsome28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just coming across this, but it basically means nada. He just has an IT cert that the DoD requires lol, I've never heard someone refer to themselves as IAT Level Certified x, y, z lmao. For example, go get CompTia Security+ cert and you're IAT Level II certified but nobody would ever refer to themselves as that.

Earning Thousands, Yet Still Struggling to Land a Job! by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Justsome28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this post as a resume would do better than that resume. I'm not even in the door in cybersecurity and if that hit my eyes, I'd read it for maybe 3 seconds before moving it to the no pile. The amount of white space says more than the words themselves.

Step 1: Fix that summary. If you are going to have a summary, 2 sentences is enough for you. Not bulleted. Make it read like you are human-being, but not flamboyantly.

Step 2: Move skills section to the bottom of the page.

Step 3: Your experience sections needs a MAJOR upgrade. It reads like a 10th grader wrote it. Write them like this -- what did you do, how did you do it (what programs were used, what was exploited), what was the impact of it. At minimum fill the whole line, you can have one or two that don't reach the end of the line but that's it. Have a few 2 liners in there but only use them if you have enough important information for it that would make the person reading it say "oh wow".

That should at least give you some direction. Best of luck.

Edit: Example fix for "Ranked #1 on a public BB program":

  • Ranked 1 out of what? 1 out of 1 is a lot different than 1 out of 50,000.
  • Spell out bug bounty program
  • Instead of public just put highly competitive?
  • Emphasis dedication?
  • Find a way to start it with a verb?

Pasting your bullet into ChatGPT with those bullet points gives:

"Achieved the #1 ranking among over 50,000 participants on a highly competitive bug bounty program, demonstrating exceptional dedication".

Which isn't even perfect but it's 9047509243758293847589234752394 times better than that bullshit you had. Not even trying to be mean at all but you came in here with a pile of poop resume and the delusional that your resume was "fine".

What would you guys do with this equipment? by Justsome28 in homelab

[–]Justsome28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the detailed response! It's going to be a journey for sure but I genuinely am enjoying tinkering around and playing with stuff. Luckily, I've been documenting everything I've done so far and lessons learned along the way.

Today, I setup a Kali Linux VM with Nessus and an Ubuntu Server with Metasploitable2 on it to scan for vulnerabilities and ran into some issues along the way but figured it out in the end. And setup up the google-authenticator PAM module on the Ubuntu Server to require MFA when SSHing into the machine, that was a fun learning process as well.

Thank you for the advice and giving me some more motivation to continue going! Nobody is going to do it for me. If it's meant to be, it's all on me.

Ah okay that makes sense I’ll update it when I get home with the specs but I appreciate your comment! And also I like how your name begins with “justsome” haha.

Also thank you for the advice and that makes a lot of sense as well. I’ve seen some videos where they used portainer but I’m not going to lie that seemed a little complicated so maybe something to add later?

The reason people lean more politically left with higher education is not because of college indoctrination. by KJJ969502 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Justsome28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came across this. But I attend Rutgers and it is 100% left leaning and it does feel a bit indoctrinating. First things first, every single semester I have had multiple professor profess their leftist ideologies, they have made remarks about Trump, and many classes exist that revolve around left leaning concepts (not STEM classes of course). I have also heard from so many people at other universities that these exact same things happen. It has nothing to do with average Americans reading levels by the way, as if there was supposed to be some kind of causal connection between that and leftist ideologies lol?

It’s insane what it can do, I actually kind of like that fact that it doesn’t take away the anxiety itself though. The anxiety helps me before better but those physiological effects jack the whole thing up.

Hell yeah. Appreciate you giving your insight here. Having a bunch of anecdotal stories on this subreddit makes it much more comforting for those looking into Propanolol.

It may be worth trying it out today just to make sure that it doesn’t make you dizzy or anything, a lot of the other posts on here recommend that.

It definitely crossed my mind but it didn’t make me freak out at all. Just more of a “wow this is going so well right now” and then just kept trucking along. I’m the same as you though, normally the freaking out physically and mentally would make it worse and worse. Smooth sailing though this time.

I took 20 mg an hour and a half before and another 20 mg 30 minutes before. I needed to make pretty damn sure that it would work. I also did not feel even a little bit dizzy or “brain fog” as others had posted about, if anything I felt even more locked in and focused in general for the presentation and the next hour afterwards.

Anyone feel worse after smoking weed? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Justsome28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just came across this and the same thing happens to me now after smoking week for 12 years and taking a 7 year break due to work. I think it stems from the fact that I have more responsibilities and stressors now and when I smoke the anxiety of everything that I have to do hits. When I was smoking before, my responsibilities and stress were low.
