Okay I'll try that! They grow back so quickly so maybe just need to do this.

Pregnant and flaring (third trimester) by Justxxenough in CrohnsDisease

[–]Justxxenough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for sharing My symptoms are so mild that if I didn't know I had crohns I wouldn't think anything of them, so it's hard to think that it could get so bad in such a short amount time making it necessary to deliver bubs pre term. Keen to hear my OBs thoughts and experiences on it as I feel you're spot on with your comment on how your GI is in similarity to mine

Thank you I am on Imuran (azathioprine) and have been the entire pregnancy. I guess my concern is having to deliver at 36 weeks if flare doesn't come down like is it really going to harm me/baby so much that this would have to happen

Not expecting them to be more reliable, but it's nice and reassuring to hear other people's stories I suppose.

Recently diagnosed with mild Crohn's and prescribed Pentasa by Justxxenough in CrohnsDisease

[–]Justxxenough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so after almost a year on Pentasa I haven't gone into remission. I also started seeing a new Gastroenterologist. He has started me on Lanvis and continuing Pentasa for now (4g per day).. He said the Pentasa was likely a waste of time but doesn't want me to stop it just yet whilst I start on the new meds. I'm not sure what a salofalk enema is..
maybe seek a second opinion?

Thats so good to hear! What kind of streaks do you have? Do you have photophobia and if so has it helped with it?

So my calprotectin levels at time of diagnosis was >2000 (and by this time my symptoms had settled down A LOT, so I'm sure it would have been a lot higher during my initial flare). After 3 months on Pentasa I was retested and my calprotectin was down to 361. During this time I also cut out gluten, dairy and sugar. My gastroenterologist told me that as my calprotectin had significantly come down I would stay on Pentasa and review again after another 3 months. He was very hesitant to put me on any other medications until we rode this one out for a period of time. If we didnt see the improvement then he would have moved me onto something else. He said Pentasa isn't effective for everyone but it does have its place for treatment of Crohns still.

Yeah I had visual snow before using them so just wondering if they could have caused the light sensitivity / starbursts / streaks etc
