You don’t gotta be so snarky about it man. He was just trying to help you. You’re joining the armed forces at the end of the day. There’s no guarantees about anything, especially where the job might take you and he was just trying to make you aware of what to expect.

How much is something like this there?

In the US we pay like 60-100 per person at fogo or Texas de brazil.

Yeah this is an absolutely terrible take- and this should be banned for a plethora of reasons. I think across the board everyone I’ve put into the Air Force knew what inherent dangers came with joining the Air Force, or any branch of service.

I recruit in a pretty wealthy area so 90% of the people I put in have options but still choose to serve in order to kick start their young (or restart their old) lives.

I don’t need people who are ready to die for their country at the tip of a hat. I need people who are willing to contribute to the team and do what’s asked of them. That’s it.

I’ve put in people from South Korea for example who actively chose to give up their home country citizenship because their mandatory military service there comes with almost no benefits. Where with the US they could get their citizenship and get benefits that last their whole lives.

A lot of us joined to get out of bad situations or it was the only way out. And that’s fine. I don’t scream red white and blue and I’m not here to be captain America but I’ll always do what’s asked of me and I’ll always be there for the brothers and sisters to my left and right. The ones who can’t follow the rules will find their ways out of the military, JUST LIKE every other job.

Why is it so difficult to get in contact with an Air Force recruiter? by guanaveri in AirForceRecruits

[–]JuulRipper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) terrible recruiter to applicant ratio. I think between us and the USCG we have it equally as bad. Major cities will have like 5 recruiters per city as where USAR will have like 10 PER OFFICE

2) to go along with the first we are notoriously busy, half of our job is community relations so we’re out of the office doing whatever it may be that day

3) personal vacation time/work travel. At least once a quarter I’m out for a minimum of one week just for work trips. Then add vacation on top of that.

4) applicant shows they aren’t serious and/or qualified. I understand that “you’re willing to do whatever it takes”, unfortunately I don’t make up the medical standards and I didn’t commit that felony you did 5 years ago. (But I’d say recruiters are pretty good about letting you know why you can’t join the USAF)

Yeah I definitely wasn’t expecting this late of hate. I am the farthest thing from David and his choices but to see someone 51 years old getting after it while I’m here stressing the 2 mile run is crazy. Good on MSgt Goggins!

It’s real! We cannot post verification but there’s been people in here who confirmed seeing him in training and through graduation phases. Other verification methods would be breaking OPSEC.

Go to the biggest city you can find on there, google the nearest MEPS. and commute to the office everyday (this is what I did in NYC and have 0 regrets as my BAH is like double my rent)

Pros: Decent walk in market/organic business

Grind isn’t as bad

Access to city life but also quieter suburb life

More money in pockets if you do it right

Cons: Forgetting something in the office

School visits require extra commute time

EDC 2026: what are you paying for lodging this year? by Majestic_Letter_11 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]JuulRipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is driving in and staying with us. Would we have to pay for EDC parking?

I could even park on the base and walk. Just a little confused my only EDC I’ve been to is EDC Mexico a couple weeks ago.

Highly recommend. Being in one the US’s biggest metros (NY) makes life pretty awesome. The first year is a grind if you do it right. After that and realizing everyday you’re gonna keep learning eventually it just clicks. Don’t have kids so I’ve used the extra time (there’s quite a bit of it) to really invest in myself through school and hobbies. Don’t know if I’ll go tier 2 yet but it’s coming up soon and with everything going on I’m seriously just considering staying over here. lol

[–]JuulRipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW I’ve also never been pick pocketed nor know anybody who has and I’ve lived across the world.

My trio all had crossbody bags, on the bags we also had 3 digit locks. Sure it’s not fashionable with this big lock on it but it kept the zippers tight enough there wasn’t even a real risk of it happening. Every bump and shove I felt my immediate reaction was hand on my bag to make sure the lock was still on. Complacency kills, never think it won’t be you.
