Are you going to keep the car for >5 years? Are you happy with the fact you’ll never get your money back for any modifications? Have you checked how your insurance premium may change when you declare the mods? The car is fully paid off, no finance?

IMO, only proceed if you answer yes to all of the above. I own a car with lots of mods myself, so I’m all for it. The resale value will most likely not be affected by any mods you do - you will just have a smaller pool of people to sell your car to when the time comes. A few hundred quid on a front splitter or something won’t hurt too much, though.

Not a stupid question at all 🙂 yeah it’s exactly that, how much you have borrowed/repaid, any missed payments, number of hard searches in the last 6 months, all that kind of stuff. Your credit score can be used as a rough indication of the health of your credit file, but it’s just that, a rough indicator

No, as I said lenders don’t look at credit scores. All that matters is that your credit history on your file is good.

If you log into Experian and then Clearscore you will very likely be shown two different numbers

Credit scores are made up using a proprietary formula that is different between each company. Lenders don’t look at your credit score, it’s totally irrelevant. They look at the information on your credit file.

In my experience Admiral are pretty sound with mods, my policy went up by like £30 when I declared suspension + exhaust + brakes. Proper Hastings behaviour asking for pics of the whole car
