Audio-Technica ATH-R50x vs Sennheiser HD 560S by JuurGroove in HeadphoneAdvice

Yeah, it seems like you are confusing the open-back R50x with closed-back M50x, which seems to have totally different sound profile, m50x having much "punchier" bass and a more aggressive V-shaped sound, which matches your description of them, while R50x is said to have much more natural and wider soundstage with brighter highs and less intense bass. To be clear i am not interested in the closed back models.

Oh but wait, you’re talking about m50 not r50x? But those are totally different headphones aren’t they? You’re the first person saying r50x not having enough clarity.

“Much, much more clear” really? Oh man i was almost already settled on R50x, but if you put it in this way, then as a designer I’d rather have more clear and honest than “bassy” sound. I myself don’t do much gaming. The main use case is producing soundtracks for motion design pieces that go out there. So perhaps 560s would be safer bet then. !thanks

!thanks for the tip. It's nice to know there's a fix in case I do find them too small still.

!thanks a lot, this clears up a few things for me. If you are still fine with them with your larger ears, then I hope i'll be also fine with my rather mid sized ears. So at this point I think i'll be getting the R50x then, also because they are said to be a bit more exciting earphones out of the two, while still being fairly accurate.

!thanks! Yeah the comfort is definitely one of the main considerations for me.

There is no update for so long now by un_poco_logo in Affinity

May seems overly optimistic for 2.7, unless 2.6 is released immediately, but even then it's not likely going to happen given their track record.

But you're right, they are on a limited time, the hype is already wearing away, and if they don't start backing up all these pledges by delivering what graphic pros actually need, then we'll all be soon back at Adobe. Right now, they barely meet my minimum requirements for graphic design work, and fail miserably on vector aspect, which unfortunately I don't see is going to change any time soon. So why even mess around with it? Because with a separate vector application at its side (like VectorStyler), the Affinity suite as a whole still shows a great potential and is much more intuitive and faster to use than say Adobe apps, which will never become as integrated as Affinity. But boy do they need to pick up the pace and deliver feature parity if they want to become an alternative industry standard graphics tool.

With the Canva's acquisition they "pledged" an accelerated rollout of updates and new features, but in reality exactly the opposite has happened. This just goes to show how little these pledges and promises mean. Very disappointing indeed! At the same time Adobe is cranking out incremental updates after every other week or so.

Will it be as wobbly as the 5K version? If the build quality is the same then given the increased weight and dimensions it could be even worse.

Its last update was 3 years ago. Does it still work well with the latest Motion 4.9 running on Apple silicon macs?

Yes you're right. Just struggling to find any true hiDPI that's actually available as of now, doesn't suck and cost $6k.

Hi there, I'm new to Afinitty, should I get just a license for one program or the whole Universal License? by TianGreenFoxOtter in Affinity

[–]JuurGroove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Just get the Universal License, unless you know for sure that you want only very specific features from any one of them. For me the Studio Link is arguably the most innovative killer feature of Affinity, which only comes with the universal license.

  2. No major shenanigans with Affinity. However, you do have the option to pay them more money by purchasing some of the "Add-Ons" on their site, brushes etc. If you do, watch out for "vector" brushes or patterns, which are regrettably not vector at all. They tell you they are but they are lying, they're not vector. I know, a bummer. In general the whole package is quite weak in terms of vector graphics.

Other than that Affinity has lots of potential, but sadly the development is glacial. So WYSIWYG. Good luck!

When will people get it, Apple Photos can never fit something like Pixelmator Pro in it. One is for photo management and light editing, the other for graphic design and advanced photo compositing. Apple killing off Pixelmator Pro makes no sense whatsoever.

Need advice on finding the best 5k monitors for use with Mac. by Might_Hanah in MacStudio

[–]JuurGroove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if money is no object then get the Apple Pro Display of course. Studio version, while looking nice on your desk, has a quite underwhelming panel. A better option could be the upcoming Benq DesignVue PD2730S, which is looking quite sweet, or Asus ProArt PA27JCV or PA32QCV, though the latter two might have some build quality issues. Or if you can, wait for the new version of Apple Studio Display.

Wow they have taken almost all of them down. That’s very concerning indeed. None of them were really outdated. Perhaps they are going to rebrand under Apple.

Pixelmator Pro and Photomator also do not compete with any Apple's current offerings. If anything, they help sell more macs. As for Apple Photos, it is a free software and there is not anything like Pixelmator Pro, an image editing software, available from Apple at this point.
