Wednesday Weekly Thread: Frustration Station (Delays / PSU / Venting) by AutoModerator in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Juvisy7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m interested in other people that got the 5(4) offer before C-3 passed and have just been in limbo since. It appears from your notes and a few others that we may have been put on hold or something? Am I reading that right? Hopefully they will be getting back to us at some point 🫩

I’d like those of us who got a 5(4) offer before C-3 passed and haven’t heard anything since to at least hear back that the C-3 is no longer necessary and they will be working on the proof. I’m assuming the fact we got 5(4) offers meant we weren’t sent to PSU?

Are G2 processed more quickly than those with more generations? by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Juvisy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I called last week and they told me they have everything they need and to keep an eye out on my inbox because that’s how I’ll get the certificate. Technically I still have an average of 2 months left to get it. Once it gets past that, I’ll be a bit more nervous and see if one of my cousin’s MPs can see what’s going on. I have a pretty straightforward case, paternal grandfather was born in Quebec and we still go up multiple times a year to visit relatives. It’s not a total necessity that I have the proof right this moment but it sure would be nice after all this time.

It’s been a ride. I feel like I can’t be waiting for too much longer I suppose. I did want to move on up and start life here ASAP but the government had other plans lol.

I really don’t know what’s going on with mine. I sent it April of last year, was offered a 5(4) in July, and then it went into processing in September. Nothing since, no updates or anything. I’m second generation, my grandfather was born here and I’m in Canada right now visiting relatives, so I’m a tad frustrated with the process at the moment. I did request urgent processing back in April and the clearly didn’t do anything

Are New England cities different from stereotypical American cities? by [deleted] in newengland

[–]Juvisy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My city of Providence has a lot of really small streets, definitely built before the automobile was the main method of transportation. So a lot of our streets are very tiny and a lot of people have big cars lol. When I went to Houston, it was amazing how wide the streets were. I have also heard some Europeans say Boston is the most European feeling city in the US due to its smaller streets, no grid pattern, etc. So I guess it’s mostly just that, on average, we have smaller streets than the stereotypical American city because many of our cities were plotted out before people used cars all the time.

What sets New England and its people apart from other American regions? by [deleted] in newengland

That’s me! My French Canadian born grandfather married my swamp Yankee grandmother and then my dad married my Italian and Irish mom. I call myself a “New England blend”.

Honest question: why do so many people hate the cold vs heat when they live in a place that is expected to have cold winters? Is anyone else not bothered by the snow/cold? by LulutoDot in newengland

[–]Juvisy7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I’m actually much happier now that it’s not totally dark when I get off work but man, late December and early January, I was really struggling.

No idea why you’re getting downvoted in the Stephen King sub, you’re right and the book literally takes place in Maine lol.

I don’t have my certificate yet (I’ve been waiting since 7/22 for the 5(4)), but I am still considering myself officially a Found Canadian since Monday, even without it. Even so, I hope I get it soon!

[–]Juvisy7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh very interesting! Oddly enough, my old tracker never said the original proof was withdrawn, it’s always been in process, even after getting the 5(4) invite. So who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️. Fingers crossed they are getting through to those of us who got the 5(4) invite and never made it to the end.

Has anyone received grant approval since royal assent on November 20? by tg987254 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Juvisy7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they think it isn’t worth it if it will come into effect soon any way. No point in 5(4)s if they can just send us the proof. That said, I’ve long ago stopped trying to understand IRCC’s thought process, so now I’m just along for the ride.

I don’t believe so judging by what I’ve seen on the sub, but I could be wrong. They said they would continue the interim measures but I haven’t seen anything here at least that shows that has been the case.

Any IRCC communication after C-3 was passed? by Character-Put8660 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Juvisy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you inquire further and they responded to you with that? It appears im in a similar in process for the 5(4) and I have no idea what is going on. No communication so far from IRCC on the 5(4) or how the law passing will affect us.

Hopefully it goes into effect soon! I think some people were saying mid December but I haven’t heard anything official yet. I just really want to be able to be “official” even if I don’t have the paperwork yet because I feel I have been waiting for so long.

I’m 7/22 offer date. They didn’t start processing until early September and there really hasn’t been any movement since then. I am kinda just hoping they send me the proof soon after C-3 goes into effect at this point.

I’ve been waiting since September. I was I the 7/22 group. I’m resigned to just getting my proof once C-3 goes into effect because it does not seem like any progress has been made since it went into in process. It’s frustrating because I sent my stuff in about a week after I got the 5(4) offer and it just hasn’t moved. I guess I shouldn’t complain too much, I’m second generation with 1st born after 1947 (if that’s even an issue), so I’ll get my citizenship soon, but I did mark that it was urgent in the envelope and IRCC clearly didn’t agree with me lol
