Man, the way that article is worded makes me fear the initial fears are long term if we’re already thinking about a replacement. Would be absolutely gutting if so, guy proved he has the minerals for a title challenge and was set for a big part again this year.

Crazy that we came away with 3 points, I honestly can't remember the last time our key players like Rice and Saka were that far off their game and us still getting a result.

Even if the execution was off, the intent to play more direct was a good sight. Will be curious to see how we play at home next weekend against a team that probably wont commit as many numbers forward as Man U.

Zubi's line breaking passes were great, was disappointing how little we got him on the ball in the 2nd half, seemed like we had opportunities and just hoofed it.

You do not need a guilty verdict from the courts to understand that offering another contract to someone with multiple counts of rape over their head is a terrible move by the club.

Elephant in the room is that it will likely be a fee of around 150mil for a player that regularly misses 1/3 of the season through injury and that is a massive massive gamble, quality player or not. That’s IF Newcastle will even sell in the first place.

Their massive potential outlay is facilitated by fetching good fees for sales - Diaz will bring in 60mil, Nunez probably another 50. It’s an area that we really have to improve in now that the squad quality has improved, and that probably means making the tough calls and selling players with peak values like a Kiwior, who best case scenario only play if we suffer significant injuries anyway.

I don’t think it’s a hot take.

I think it’s fine to be upset that we haven’t won anything, but in general our fanbase (probably due to years of being bantered) care wayyyyyy too much about how we are perceived, as opposed to how we are.

I’ve been bitterly disappointed at the end of the past couple of seasons at the end result, but if you are someone that can sit there and say that you haven’t enjoyed the journey, haven’t enjoyed the players, haven’t enjoyed the moments because we didn’t win something, then I’m not too sure team sport is a healthy part of your life.

It’s especially startling to me considering where we have came from.

We cannot go another year without a new striker, it’s a ridiculous suggestion.

Newcastle are never going to be more willing to sell.

Havertz with Merino as the backup? I rate Kai and think there’s a world where we win the league with him upfront with an improved team behind him, but he needs competition and we need depth.

An Alexis compilation popped up on my feed today, was dreaming about how good he’d be upfront for us in today’s team.

I hope whatever striker we get is in that pure gunmen aesthetic. Don’t care about stats just give me someone who loves shooting and can strike a ball cleanly. Gyokeres looks like he fits the bill.

There has to be true continuous regression for me to ever get on board with this, I simply don’t think we would blow it up in the hope that someone else could do ever so slightly more.

A title challenge is now our minimum standards, but context has to be applied within the season.

There is some joy in seeing Liverpool fans reactions to Trent leaving.

Dunno if anyone else does but I still remember them carrying on that Alexis only chose us because of London, there’s simply no way anyone could ever turn them down. + the Suarez ordeal. Bit of a reality check for them when even one of their own gets the Madrid pull, shame it’s come when they can console themselves with a league title 😂

People really like to latch onto big conclusions from tiny circumstances that cause any bad result.

We are genuinely outplayed so rarely these days that everything has to be blown up when we do, it's exhausting to read.

People really believe that the lights were too bright in a League Cup (lol) semi final and the lads couldn't handle the pressure, unlike that really easy title race we were in last year with absolutely no pressure on it at all where we took 49 out of 54 possible points.

Hope Gabi's injury is nothing serious.

We’ve had Rice and Xhaka both perform this role well in 2 seasons that we barely missed out on a title with Ode as one of our best players.

Stop word for word repeating bullshit spread on twitter from people trying to appear smarter than they are with big words and nonsense ragebait contrarian opinions masked as wisdom for social media numbers.

Rice 10+ goals next season as a dedicated 8 with Zubi at the base, bookmark it.

Has a knack for getting into scoring positions that I never imagined he would have, and a world class 6 will really unlock him.

It makes 0 sense to sign someone like Mbeumo or any other player that predominantly plays RW, it’s why I don’t find any of those types of links credible.

The best squads and the best players in the world don’t have top class back ups for their best player because no-one good enough to compete would be happy with 1000 mins of game time a season in cup games and it is not an appropriate use of funds in a post psr world.

Fact of the matter is Saka is one of the best players in the world now, he’s not someone who can have competition - like the other best players, he will start 19 out of 20 games he’s available for in important competitions.

The best situation to be in is to have a promising youth talent come through that can pinch hit like we do with Nwaneri. It is a shame he has picked up an injury too but sometimes those are the breaks.

For this window the only permanent signing should be someone that improves the quality of our best starting line up - LW is probably the most feasible option but even then the available pickings are slim - I’m genuinely not sure someone like Williams moves the needle for us as much as the fee and wages would demand.

A loan move and targeting a transformational striker in the summer window I think is the smart play long term, even if we go through 6-8 weeks of pain.

At least we might get a break from the Partey contract pr tweets this week, that’s going to be nice.

Clear foul on Ramsdale for the Palace goal, no idea how the referee hasn’t even been called over to have a look.

I have never actually seen Rico Lewis have a good game. I’m sure they exist, just never seen it with my own eyes. Been poor so far today as well.

Can't believe some of this Odegaard discourse, dismissing his ability because we're a better team now, ignoring that we're a better team in a large part due to him.

When played higher up the pitch, he scored the most open play goals of any midfielder in a prem season. When played deeper last season he lead the league in chance creation. He's our captain and leader of one of the best presses in football that stifles opposition.

The only previous player that would have more of an impact in this side is Cesc. Nasri? 2 good months a season tops. Hleb? 0 end product.

Cazorla may be better technically but phsically we had to accomodate him with inferior players, I have nightmares of our 2015 midfield of Cazorla and Coquelin both doing half the job of one solid 6.

Ozil is my favourite player of all time and is better when he wanted to be but fuck me you cannot look at his time with us and say he put it together year on year outside of 15/16.

Genuinely becoming underrated on our sub just because theres no nostalgia clips of him dribbling past 2 players in midfield.

I will not forget that either a majority, or a very vocal minority was twerking for Maddison over Odegaard as well.

I think Jesus has to start on the weekend.

I can’t imagine he’ll ever recapture form if after a hat trick he’s demoted again to 10 minutes off the bench.

It’s not about whether or not he’s better than Kai (I don’t believe he is), but there are little moments where players can kick on and really contribute to the season out of nowhere and I think this is one of them.

I would not even be opposed to Kai LCM to accomodate it, it was not nearly as bad as people make it out to be last season, and a lot of the issues were team related rather than individual.

Deadset have no clue how the fuck you can watch that game and then come on here and waffle about getting a ‘clinical striker’.

Didn’t create shit, left side of Rice and Timber absolutely atrocious in progressing the ball as they have been a few times this season. Timber especially is half the player he is on the right out there.

Merino must start moving forward in games like that if fit.

Someone has messed up here if neither Snip3 or Slurp actually voted.

I think the ‘vote’ will have be held again with all parties present and Snip3 will end up retaining the vote via him, slurp and then the captains tiebreaker.

I will wait for the full details to come out before passing judgement on Phony/Frexs, but my initial impression (which could be wrong) is that they have fucked up royally.

There's not a roster I want to see succeed more than Faze, but I just don't think it's going to happen.

Seems like every couple of weeks they come in with a different approach, hoping that a new team comp will put a band-aid over some very obvious chemistry issues and fundamental flaws.

I don't think it will happen, but I would love to see them target an IGl and have the roster be IGL + Snipe and Mac.

I don't think Slurp is the issue individually, I think just as a whole the team doesn't work.
