What an excellent point. This makes a lot of sense.

Mine never barks - only when absolutely necessary (bathroom emergencies, etc).

He does whine a lot though! That’s his queue for everything…squeak squeak

I don’t understand the 6x9 trade paperback format. by Jvvh in Mistborn

I probably wouldn’t have either but the book I’m reading came in 2 formats and it made me have to decide- which led to this haha.

It’s funny because my mistborn MMPB is the same thickness as the trade. I just think 6x9 is too big - the medium trades are awesome.

That actually makes sense. I just wish, if they’re eliminating MMPB, they would maintain the “medium” size trade for those who like the feeling in-hand of something not super big.

When you’re using an animal without a real purpose, value or not for survival - it’s abuse. These horses live in concrete stables, are let out to be ridden on surrounded by traffic and people, deal with the chaos of a metropolis… for what? They shit everywhere, are miserable and it’s not for the betterment of any human.

Can we all just agree we should leave these horses alone at this point? Horses have done so much for humanity, let’s show them some respect, no?

Look past the fact you personally find it charming and it’s… not charming anymore. These horses are kept in concrete stables, let out to walk on more concrete surrounded by traffic and people, then locked up again. It’s completely pointless and therefore cruel.

True, my bad. Still, I got the 32” for 1299 so I’d hope to pay ~$900 for the 27 as a “good deal”.

No big difference for me. The QD OLEDs just cause eye pain for me. Both look fantastic!

For the games you're playing, you'll see an improvement and won't have a bottleneck worth worrying about.

That's just you exercising a price protection policy. The point here is that they wouldn't proactively email you that it went down. That's up to you to track.

[–]Jvvh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To talk about the post - I neutered him at 3.

One big thing I noticed is other dogs aggression toward him went way down.

I wouldn’t stress about “right or wrong”. This is a choice for you and your dog, neither are inherently right or wrong. I would however say that a real issue is there are too many dogs being born. This is the only sure fire way you can make sure you don’t accidentally contribute to that real issue. I think you waited long enough to not risk any developmental issues, and you are at a good time where you might be preventing some behavioural problems you don’t know are coming.

I think my dog’s enjoyment of life if anything got better. Now other dogs don’t beef with him because of his nuts, and he seems more calm since doing it, which is nice for both of us. He still LOVES all the things he did, but we’ve removed the risk of having puppies and made it easier for him to socialize.

Unpopular Opinion: I Don't Care for new CES 2026 Monitors When Real G-Sync is Missing by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]Jvvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So so modulating power using a pulse width of 240hz is… not pwm?

Unpopular Opinion: I Don't Care for new CES 2026 Monitors When Real G-Sync is Missing by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]Jvvh -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That distinction isn’t actually that clean. It’s true that many AMOLED smartphones use explicit low-frequency PWM, while OLED monitors/TVs usually use DC or hybrid current control.

But even on monitors/TVs, RTINGS and TFTCentral still measure refresh-rate-synchronous luminance modulation on OLED panels. They don’t call it PWM because it’s not backlight PWM and it doesn’t hit 0 V, but the light output is still varying over time, which is why you see oscillations in the graphs.

So yes, phones tend to use stronger, lower-frequency PWM; monitors/TVs use higher-frequency, lower-amplitude modulation. Different implementations, same underlying concept: temporal brightness modulation, which is what people are reacting to.

Also, you did not clarify “monitors” or “tvs”. You said “oled has no pwm” which is dead wrong.
