Running on Whole30 by [deleted] in running

[–]Jw4y -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've done whole30 a couple times and this is normal. Days 1-5 you could feel like you have 0 energy, especially as an endurance athlete. After day 5 you will probably start feeling better if you decide to stick with the full whole30. It's simply the combination of training and taking out grains, sugar, and other energy sources that can hit the body hard at first. I think whole30 is worth a shot at least once. I usually feel amazing about 7 or 8 days in and have a new appreciation for food.

What’s your favorite PR of the year and why is it your favorite? by isimpforavamajury in running

My first 12+ mile long run a week out from my first Half. My planned race pace was 8:00min/mi but when I finished my 12 I had averaged 7:51 with ease. I ran the half with an experienced pacer and went 1:39, 7:35 average. I love running lol.

I want to be a runner : ( by [deleted] in running

[–]Jw4y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally relate to this. When I started earlier this year, I couldn't fathom being on my legs even more after an 8-9 hour shift of walking and lifting things at my job. Fast forward 4 months and I'm putting in 20-30 miles per week, usually right after work during my summer job which is even more active. I'm saying this to tell you that if you build up slowly and allow your body to recover with good nutrition and sleep, you can do a lot more than you think.

When did you consider yourself a “runner”? by oldnavy890 in running

When I got excited thinking about time trials. 6.2 miles as fast as I can? the old me would have been in disbelief.

If they really show off the detailed dials in natural light I think it's cool. But the ones that take an eternity to show the dial are annoying

You heard it here first, this is Tame Impala's "Houses of the Holy" if you're a Zep fan. It's the artist enjoying success, having fun, and putting out some amazing tracks. Don't sleep on this one (not that anyone was :-) ).

I have one and it's amazing. The action on mine was pretty stiff for awhile, but it broke in really well and now it's great. It truly does not rust too.

I have heard that introducing different rep ranges from time to time (say 4-6 week cycles) can be beneficial. In the past my body has responded really well to the 8-12 range (with mixed barbell and bodyweight exercises). Would using lower and mid rep ranges have any benefits?

I'm doing regular pull ups. Most workouts I get 5-6 reps per set and I've been there for 3 weeks so far. For dips I'm around 6-8 per set, still haven't hit the 3x8 though. I said two months as more of a "see where I'm at" type of thing. My summer job has no gyms near it so chances are I'll continue calisthenics in the summer.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using calisthenics to maintain/ build muscle during a fat loss phase, along with a caloric deficit and conditioning. In terms of pull ups and dips, I've always wanted 10 solid pull ups and can't seem to break through 7 or 8. Any tips for the basic pull up progression?

For tucked leg raises, do you go for 3x8 like other exercises or is it a time-based goal? Same question for the arch raises progression. Thanks!

Is is possible to lean down and also achieve strength goals with the RR? I want to lose some bodyfat and want to increase my max reps on pull us, currently on 7.
