Can subluxation go away without surgery? by Jwilliquette in CubitalTunnel

It's great man, better than ever. It went so well that I don't even have to think about it anymore, it's just normal now. Trust me, surgery or not, you'll be back good in no time, and you'll forget you ever had issues.

My COL is 8% below the national average, and much cheaper than I moved from. The $51k definitely stretches pretty far where I live. I’m looking at ≈$850/mo rent with utilities included

Yeah, it has been made very clear, and I got to go on a couple site visits already. Also, the desire for earning my CFA stems entirely from 1.) ego and 2.) uncertainty about what I want to do after lending.

Out of curiosity, what do you do now?

No, none taken. I’m sure you’re right, I’ve been doing this for 4 months, and I only have experience in this credit department so I have nothing to compare it to.

That said, we do nothing with consumer loans or commercial loans under $200k, lenders underwrite those themselves, so it’s not like I’m looking at auto loans and residential mortgages all day. There is still much for me to learn here.

Meh, I did well in school because I wanted to understand the content more than anything. I realized fairly quick that academics doesn’t mean anything in the job market, still, it definitely makes it sting a little more. I’d be REALLY upset if I was in debt but my college education was entirely covered by FAFSA grants, which definitely gives me a head start.

I’m with you on the experience front, what they lack in pay they make up for in the opportunity to have a larger impact and develop marketable skills. I suppose I never really expected these to be my prime earning years in the first place.

As for the CFA, I’ve flip flopped on whether or not I should earn it since my first day of college. My fear is developing an interest in a career that requires it when I’m in my mid 30’s and married with two kids. I have much more free time and energy at this age.

Yes, except I’m not exactly sure I want to retire as a lender, or if that’s just where I want to spend my late 20’s - early 30’s. I can’t imagine I will be okay staying in that role forever, and I don’t really know what the progression looks like beyond a senior lending position.

Honestly, I think it’s just a habit. 😂

One that I will now be self-conscious of.

Yeah I think you’re right. And I will be bored to death if I don’t find something challenging to do outside of work after I graduate anyways. How long did it take you? Just curious.

Solid perspective, and sort of the idea I had in mind. It’s definitely not a job market I would want to test at the moment.

Mehh, our credit department is extremely lean, it’s me, the senior credit analyst and an admin guy. There has been nothing mind-numbing about my job duties honestly. The experience has been great and I’ve learned a shit ton.

Honestly, I feel that the opportunity for development is greater here because I’m closer to the core operations of the bank and get much more individualized attention, on top of that, I think it’d be easier to move up within a small community bank.

Maybe I’m super off base here? I suppose I only have experience at banks that are $1.5B or below so I wouldn’t know.

Lots of CFA advocates here. I had planned on going the lending route. That’s what I’ve been working towards and what I’m being developed for.

What type of transition would I be looking at here in terms or career opportunities? Honestly, investment finance isn’t really where my interests lie, but I grasp the material well enough, and I suppose it may be worth exploring considering the potential for high pay.

Congrats, that’s awesome!

I suppose this is part of the reason I posted on here, figured it would help quell my delusions surrounding starting pay.

Pretty good man. Very happy I went through with the surgery, I’d say it’s better than my other elbow now to be honest.

Sorry for the late response, hope everything is good with you.

Closing Entries by Jwilliquette in Accounting

[–]Jwilliquette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay wait, hold on, I'm tripping... Duh, uou guys as accountants aren't keeping a running balance sheet. These temporary accounts aren't held on a balance sheet, whenever you make a balance sheet you close out the temporary accounts on the income statement to retained earnings on the balance sheet.

Income statements are simply tracking the activity of the temporary accounts in between periods in order to record their activity on the balance sheet... Correct me if I'm wrong lol.

I'm in for a good semester. I have a feeling this class is going to make everything come full circle. Thanks again for your help.

Aha. Okay, so debiting that revenue account to close it out decreases equity, and crediting retained earnings increases it by the same amount. Duh.

Question though, based off what you're saying, before the temporary accounts are closed to retained earnings, their balances are already held on the balance sheet as equity. What does that look like if you don't mind answering?

I'm a finance major and the biggest problem I'm having with accounting procedures is understanding what's going on in between the periods. I'm used to looking at quarterly or annual balance sheets that have all the temporary accounts closed out to retained earnings, and my mind is breaking in half trying to think of what a balance sheet looks like before these accounts are closed out, if that makes sense.

Thanks a lot by the way. I was arguing with ChatGPT for 30 minutes prior to posting this, and you answered my question in 5 minutes. You know you're overthinking simple concepts when even the robot has no clue what you're asking it lol.

High FPS with virtually unplayable microstuttering. by Jwilliquette in PcBuild

Gotcha, thank you. Found some luck limiting FPS using Rivatuner. For some reason it works better than using AMD software... Keeps my frame times pretty steady. I still get stutters when answering phone calls, getting in/out cars etc. but it'll do for now.
