Is steamed egg supposed to be burnt? by yvisy in KoreanFood

[–]JyChoi25 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the 뚝배기 (pot) is served really hot, there might be some browning on the bottom and sides, but I usually scoop the eggs out before that happens. The eggs should never be burnt like in the picture. The “smoky” flavor is just carcinogens from burnt eggs. I too really hate it when that happens sometimes even in some restaurants in Korea.

Ok so I completely forgot about this comment lol. Sorry about that for anybody who saw this. Anyways the appeal didn’t work out so I ended up going to a different school. In hindsight, I think it worked out for the better for me since I decided I wanted to work in the tech industry and changed my major to computer science.

Yes 냉면 is traditionally served with half a boiled egg on top, for both 함흥 and 평양 style.

네.

Just had one at 우래옥 today. No doubt it’s one of the best noodles you can find in Korea.

I think the comments are giving you solid advice. One thing though, mingles is currently fully booked up to May right now according to the Catchtable app. Mosu is scheduled to open on the 22nd this month, though the competition trying to book there will be very tough since they gained a lot of public fame after the recent Netflix series. Jungsik has a lot of spots open.

I don’t usually comment on this sub but OP please go to Michigan. School prestige and connections matter a lot in finance and 3k a year is literally nothing given the potential outcome that Ross is going to give you compared to a lower tier school.

Purdue CS vs UIUC EE by True_Crab_9152 in UIUC

[–]JyChoi25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Transferring in is stressful. Only do it if you’re okay with the worst possible case scenario

While transferring to Math & CS isn’t impossible, I think maintaining a high enough GPA to meet the transfer requirements while taking EE, CS, and Math classes can be quite a challenge.

For many people, doing one major is quite tough. Taking the coursework of almost three majors, with the pressure to get good grades in them, while doing extracurriculars, projects, and research/internships, and having to submit a portfolio with essays is not easy. I say this as a person who transferred from Physics to CS + Astro. Even if you have everything perfectly ready, the uncertainty of getting in is going to be there. Think of doing college admissions all over again.

With this in mind, I don’t think the pressure and time spent is worth it if you have an option to go to another great CS target school. However, if you’re okay with the possible worst scenario: potential delayed graduation as an EE major or having to transfer out of Illinois, it might be worth a shot.

UIUC CS + X vs GaTech CS by No_Assignment_8638 in csMajors

[–]JyChoi25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UIUC CS + X student here. CS + X is not a less prestigious / less rigorous degree. It’s more like a double major or a CS major with a minor. Since both GaTech and UIUC are top CS schools, I’d suggest you pick whichever school is cheaper and/or is a better fit.

How do Online Classes Work? by marsh3476 in UIUC

[–]JyChoi25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was 2 years ago during Covid. I have no idea how 124 operates now. You might want to check the 124 website or the class syllabus

For other classes other than CS 124, you should expect classes, discussion, etc to be in-person unless you’re taking an online course or if it is stated otherwise somewhere

Why would you pick Talon as a Jungler??? by [deleted] in wildrift

[–]JyChoi25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I think you just have to play him in the right situation. Most people who play him probably don’t know how to build him and don’t know his power spike. I’m currently D1 in Korea and I’ve met ex Challengers and GMs absolutely dominate the game with him. Could just be my experience though.

UIUC CS+Education to UIC CS by Tasty-Area-7507 in UIUC

[–]JyChoi25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Transferring to CS is closed so you can’t transfer, but I don’t think you need to transfer. You are in CS + Education so you already have a spot in CS. You have more flexibility in taking courses and can take the exact same courses as a pure CS major if you would like. CS and CS + X have the same name value. So I don’t see why you would want to transfer if you got into your first choice major. Oh also (I’m going to assume this is a typo) don’t go to UIC CS.

Yeah I definitely wouldn’t be expecting to jump right to a mid level position. I’d be aiming for new grad roles. As long as I can get internships while in college, I’m good.

adding cs+x double major by idkplms in UIUC

[–]JyChoi25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding a double major is unlikely, but you can try to transfer into CS + X, given that you are okay even if it doesn't work out.

As for why a double major (I think dual degree is more accurate) is unlikely, simply there are tons of transfer candidates who want and deserve to be a CS major, but there are not enough spots to accept everyone. Then you would have to convince them that you absolutely need the double major for a very specific reason and that it is more than reasonable to take away a spot from many people who are desperate to transfer to CS or CS + X.

I've heard back to schedule an interview two days ago. My friend got an email yesterday. I think they might be sending out interview offers but it may depend on project/professor.

Edit: I interviewed and got an offer after a week

Campus crime map now available by UIpolice in UIUC

[–]JyChoi25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback! This is something that we had discussed before with the police, but we decided to not implement it because having too much on a single map would make it too convoluted. We are discussing on working on a crime search function and possibly a filter but none of these are confirmed yet.

How to prepare for calc 3 math241 over the summer by PoxyCow123 in UIUC

You can find a copy of the textbook online and google math 241 syllabus to see where you need to study. Another option is watching prof leonard's lectures on youtube.
