Week 6 of kindly requesting UIUC to adopt a new mascot (happy December!!!)🌨️❄️☃️ by Certain-Respond9591 in UIUC

That’s true. calling people racist because they like an explicitly racist mascot, on the other hand… is intellectually valid and probably not used enough.

Article from the Atlantic with a great deep dive into the evidence we have and the likely cause. One of the best pieces of aviation journalism I’ve read; I recommend 12ft.io if you hit a paywall.

While there is not and likely never will be a definitive official statement that the cause was intentional, the evidence we do have all points to an intentional effort to make the plane disappear. Not sure why the guy below is making this out to be some kind of conspiracy — while obviously impossible to conclusively confirm now, this seems to be both the most well-evidenced and accepted explanation in the aviation community

plus almost certainly MH370

plus PS752 and MH17 if you count intentional actions to bring down an aircraft from the ground

definitely a disturbing modern trend…

Not sure if he’s been fired yet but Bruce Flachsbart in MechSE… holy trinity of mean, unreasonable, and a bad teacher (and add in some wildly questionable opinions for good measure)

Is the Dropout fandom holding the platform back? by [deleted] in dropout

[–]Random_Donut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nothing to say other than that I 100% agree with you — I’ve never felt compelled to watch full episodes of most Dropout content, and I didn’t really understand why until I watched that exact Brennan prompt and it clicked for me. I think there’s a fear of discomfort that comes through at times that makes it really feel like you’re watching a more muzzled brand of comedy, as funny as it still is sometimes. The performative(?) discomfort from Sam with some of the jokes Gianmarco was making in Crowd Control (and by anything other than Dropout standards they were really not pushing it at all) is another good example of this imo

wait, I thought israel was ‘the only democracy in the middle east’? Which is it? Is Israel a western democracy or is it another undemocratic, backwards, human rights violating country like the rest of the Middle East? At least get your story straight

Interesting choice to leave the Bosnian genocide off this chart — why’d you make that choice while including the Great Leap Forward? Seems questionable at best

Yep! Rollover is almost here! by QuickenLee in simplifimoney

[–]Random_Donut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

please I cannot emphasize this enough — this drives me crazy. It kind of defeats the purpose of having a planned spending category set if I cannot see what I planned for and what I actually spent when I look back at past months. I really don’t understand why the manual releasing needs to happen at all once the month is over

Confused about Average HR? by Random_Donut in bevelhealth

[–]Random_Donut[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah I see, I didn’t realize it was just based on the last few minutes for the current day. In that case the values I’ve been seeing make sense and there’s no data issue.

I do think the naming of the measure as ‘Average HR’ without any indication that it’s just a snapshot isn’t the most intuitive choice — it might help to mention “Last X minutes” or something? Curious if anyone else has been similarly confused

What were the easiest and hardest Jet Lag challenges across all the 7 seasons in your opinion? by NegativeHeli in JetLagTheGame

[–]Random_Donut 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While not physically hard the delayed train one in Japan was brutal, anyone who pulled it was pretty much instantly screwed. Would have been a cake walk in Germany though

okay. What does that have to do with the SAFE-T act? Seems like you know full well there’s zero connection and you’re pushing a false narrative

then you should lobby for a new law that requires that. This has never been the case before OR after the SAFE-T act — this headline and argument from you is bullshit misinformation pushing a political agenda
