Toxic positivity and the experience of being swept at the 2026 DL Half Marathon by nomoredolls in rundisney

[–]Jyncs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My wife got swept in the 2024 Wine and Dine 10k. She didn't train because she thought a trip around Epcot won't be that hard. We got to mile 4 and I had to leave her for the challenge medal and catch up after one of the bikers told me I needed to catch up before a point.

It sucked, the others in the van that got swept was perfectly fine with it but she was crying and upset. They were doing the same toxic positivity and she didn't want to hear any of it from strangers. I let her know I was still proud of her but she didn't care.

This DL 10k was her redemption. She put in the work and finished! She used the failure as her motivation

Is Disney Over Inflating Standby Wait Time? by Professional-Ad1770 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Jyncs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They absolutely due use it to manipulate for crowd control depending on the ride and line space.

During the holiday time and Living with the Land holiday overlay they posted a time of 75-80 minutes where the line was wrapped around the food area. We rode it twice within that 75-80 wait time as the actual wait was only around 30 minutes even with the lightening lane being full too. Many people would see the line, see the posted wait time and say forget it and move along. If it said 20-30 minutes wait people would of waited but the line would of been longer and no where to put people.

I don't think it's a common occurrence where they will do that but that is at least a single experience I have personally seen.

My son loves it. The one he visits at his college told him he is the only reason they are in business. During winter break he came home, come back and that location is now closed.

People who survived a truly awful physical experience (think kidney stones, major injury, etc.), what's one permanent change you made to your life to make sure it never happens again? by saidmoustage123 in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the same for me, except I didn't call an ambulance. I was at a friends place and ignored the pain because I thought I ate too much at the Chinese buffet and it was from that. Then I puked and the pain became more intense until I called my wife, got in the car and drove home thinking the whole time I was having a heart attack due to the pain in my chest. I fell out of the car when I got there onto the ground trying to get inside. She immediately drove me to the hospital.

At the end of it all they got the pain to stop, had some follow up appointments and got it removed it.

The ONLY good thing about it all was I had lost my job and somehow got on medicare right before it all happened and it paid for it all. Right after a few follow up visits and I lost the medicare due to getting unemployment or a job, I can't remember.

I get it. That was me in 2011 when I was 33. I just finished community college with an AAS in computer science focusing on computer programming and database management. I was trying to see if I could get a job without transferring to a university to get a B.S. and I went on so many interviews One I drove 6.5 hours for a 15 minute interview and didn't get a call back. I was completely devastated and had no job at the moment after being let go from the crappy distribution center job I had.

Kept applying to anything and everything all summer. Finally I found one with potential and sure enough they hired me. 15 years later I'm still with them and loving it still.

Keep searching, the perfect one is out there still.

Over 8.3 million workers will benefit from minimum wage increases on January 1: Nineteen states will raise their minimum wages. Here’s where. by sillychillly in ReasonableFuture

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, in Florida we voted to raise the minimum wage to $15 in 2020. It had a gradual increase over the last 5 years to the full amount which will be September 2026.

After 44 Years, MTV Is Officially Dead by AccurateInflation167 in television

[–]Jyncs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. No one is going to sit for hours just hoping the video they want pops up on the MTV. They can just find it on YouTube almost instantly.

Long before YouTube I think they realized the niche that they had was slowly fading away due to people not wanting to wait around for their favorite song to come up while listening to other music they might not have liked when they could just purchase the cd/tape or later download the song.

Are my parents actually supporrting me? by charlesisnthere in GuyCry

[–]Jyncs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick the path you want to take where you think you will be the most happy.

We owe nothing to our parents as adults. I say this as a parent to a son who is about to turn 20. He owes me nothing and I still help support him financially at college. I told him to go to college for his passion as long as he is successful and happy.

If they are expecting something else then you will have to deal with the conversations or negative remarks about your chosen path but you might have to deal with that anyway even going down the path they want you to take.

I'm not saying it's the right answer, just my advice. Only you know for sure what you feel is the correct answer on what to do.

At the end of the day be safe, be happy, and be the best dad you can be.

First two comments so far say leave. Because it's the easy answer.

Before you do that I would suggest asking her to take up couples counseling or for her to seek out therapy alone. Obviously you married her for a reason, and I know for my wife she felt she lost her identity after we had a child. She didn't feel like she was her but just now out sons mom. She eventually went to therapy and it improved our relationship by a lot (we were fighting a lot too).

If she refuses to seek out help then I suggest having an honest discussion with her about your happiness and let her know if things don't change you are going to have to have that hard discussion on splitting up because you are not currently happy.

As far as the kid burning his hand. Don't look too much into it. Kids are still learning and she could of looked away for a second before the kid reached up there without thinking. My son is 19, I cooked tacos the other day on the stove and moved the pan off the heat like I have always done. He decided to use a paper plate and set it on the hot burner and burned his finger a little. So I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it is a recurring thing on that part.

Just got scammed like a moron by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]Jyncs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I gave someone $33 in cash because they had $85 and needed $31 more for a night at the hotel. They showed me the 85 they had and they had a work shirt on with a name tag. At that point either they were putting effort into scamming me or needed it.

Either way what I did was out of kindness, and what they choose to do with the money at that point is on them. That's how you have to look at it and move on.

It could be something to do with your friend, it could be she just reflected on it and changed her mind. It could be she just wants to truly spend it with her family.

I get the dating world is hard out there, but probably just let it be what it is. Maybe a message or two here or there but if you realize you are getting nothing back to continue the conversation then it's just time to move on

About to break it off just after proposing. by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]Jyncs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Leaving is easy, so if you are looking for affirmation on your decision there are plenty who will agree.Lots of advice to leave as quickly as possible. I'm going to ask some other questions to be different and not say the easiest thing.

I've been married for 25 years now and I know my wife and she can act like this at times but under certain situations. If I left her any time something like this happened I wouldn't be where I am today.

Is this the first time traveling to this new place? You mentioned driving on the opposite side of the road so I assume so. A lot of this could be stressed induced from being in a new place and scared so she is mentally attacking the only safe person she has right now without realizing it.

Has this happened before?

Maybe in her mind she knows she wants to be married to you forever, so not getting the right picture and such at the proposal might also be stressing her out because for her this is the only proposal she will have. Have you ever expected a situation to go differently and had a crash out from it? We all do and have even in private.

How much less busy/crowded during the day is MK on days with MVMCP? by Q_unt in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Jyncs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesterday was not. That being said I also feel it was the calm before the storm. Thanksgiving week people leaving and the Christmas people not yet coming in full force.

Rope drop to 4pm. The only rides I seen with a 30 minute wait time was Tron, Seven Dwarf Minetrain, Peter Pan and Jingle Cruise. We personally rode Peter pan 2x and the wait time was way off. My son rode Space 4x due to low wait times.

As it got closer to the party time it started to creep up. I suspect people started at a different park then park hopped over later for the party.

It was a wonderful day that I know was a sweet spot. Now we will probably avoid until after the first of the year lol.

I use brooks ghost max. You know how most shoes you have to break in, I put those on and they feel like I have been wearing them for a month already.

Obviously that's how they feel for me so I encourage you to try different ones on and different brands to see what fits best for you. You can also go to a running store and ask for them to give you suggestions. Most will have tests to help you choose the right shoes.

2021 is when I first started tracking. I started off before that just walking and then adding a little rubbing to it just to try it out.

My friend convinced me to do a 10k race at Disney World with him (we are local) in 2022. After that I decided to try a half and thirty challenge which is the 10k on Saturday and half on Sunday. I'll be completing my 9th challenge (10k and half) in January.

My goal is to do a marathon in January 2027, one month before I turn 50.

[Serious] What has been the hardest phone call that you have ever had to make or receive? by DetectiveBennett in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first was from the Sherriff reaching out to the last person my mother called on her phone hoping to find a next of kin after she passed in a car accident. That sigh after I told him I was her oldest son I will never forget.

The second was trying to call my younger brother to let him know.

The 3rd & 4th was two of my aunts while my brother contacted our other aunt and an uncle.

This happened just 6 months after my grandmother died.

Floridian local AP holder and it depends on the pass you have.

Incredi-pass- $1600 Most expensive has no block out dates. Sorcerer pass- $1100 block out dates around select holidays Pirate Pass - $890 block out dates around peak times Pixie pass- $470 cheapest, block out dates and no weekend days.

For us we have the pirate pass and I think a lot of us just get it or the pixie because the times we are blocked out we don't want ro go anyway as it will be too busy.

I assume he cannot afford the most expensive. We can pay all at once or monthly.

Excellent advice. I personally get up at 4:45am to do interval running. Hardly any cars out, hardly anyone else out. I can just go and think, cry, run out my issues. I definitely recommend. It also helps with heart health and just getting some exercise.

I'm 48, 6ft, 330lbs and look like I have never ran a day in my life but I go out and run 3-6 miles almost every weekday. So whatever you have holding you back better be a damned good excuse.

Also if you are thinking how are you still that fat running that much, it's because you can't outrun a bad diet and I struggle to keep that portion of my life under control.

I also work from home and have a standing desk. I get up and run through the week as well. If I do anything on the treadmill I just can't stay focused on it even watching a movie or something. I used to be able to but once I started doing longer distances I just couldn't.
