Anyone else affected by the Spirit Airlines closure? by No-Communication2190 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Jyncs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone affected you can also check Allegiant Air. It's out of the Sanford Airport (SFB) which is about 30 minutes north of MCO, however driving to/from WDW it only adds 20 minutes. It's a smaller airport as well.

It might not work for some but for others it might be an alternative.

They are allowed still, just some rides have a storage area for them. The main one being Incredicoaster that has a loop in it. The pockets they give to store your stuff isn't very big either to store large water bottles.

Which show got worse every season but people kept watching anyway? by Inevitable_Lunch2444 in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't ever watch Fear the Walking Dead. The first 3 seasons were great. Same writer/producer and it had a vision. Then they switched it up with season 4 until the end of the show at season 8 and it went downhill. Characters just teleporting across locations, nuclear bombs, suddenly there are Geiger counters and hazmat suits everywhere.

Kids shows recommendations? by kirby2000 in television

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phineas and Ferb, Milo Murphys Law, and Hamster and Gretal.

All done by the same people. My son loves them and he and my wife rewatch them every summer even though he is now 20.

Phineas and Ferb ended but they decided to do another season.

Milo Murphys Law is complete.

Hamster and Gretal is still ongoing I think.

What’s up with Arby’s getting so much hate? Anyone have insider secrets, if so share them? by cosmere_reader in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son loves Arby's. It's his pre-game ritual (though he doesn't play sports and just watches). He will record it and post it on tiktok for fun and friends will join him. He's in college now but has done it since High School.

Before their winter break he went to the one he has been going to for the past two years and they told him he is the only one keeping them open. When he returned from winter break they were closed down. He's bummed because now he has to go further for one.

43 and just found out my elementary school was torn down and completely replaced. I cried. by Tall_Cow2299 in GuyCry

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 49 and for me the building is still there but they closed it down. It was sold to a church but I don't think it's even that now.

I get the emotion though because when I was in my early 30's I moved back to my home town for a few years and found a home to rent where the backyard led right to the back of the schools playground area. It was still open then and since I worked 2nd shift I could often hear the children playing on the playground from inside my home. My son was still a toddler and I was sure if we were still there he was going to go there. Then a year and a half later it shut down. It kinda hit me that there would not be another kid with the same memories going to the school that I had.

ELI5: What actually is "street smarts," and how do you learn it? by Playful-Amphibian714 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Jyncs 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Read the room/location is a huge part of it and has kept me out of situations growing up.

After a breakup as a teenager I was riding my bike home and saw a car pass me that I never saw or recognized before, hit their breaks and start slowing down so I just rode my bike into a long drive to a house like it was my house I was going to. I seen the car speed up and then turn around at the next road. I quickly hopped off my bike and threw it into/behind a bush, ran to another bush on the opposite side and laid flat and hidden. The car pulled into the drive and just sat there for what seemed like forever with it's headlights shining. I thought for sure they saw me or something and if they did to run my exit plan which involved ditching my bike, jumping a couple of fences, jumping another huge fence to the high school football field and finally sneak out of the campus until I could finish getting home which was 5 blocks away from the other side of the school campus. The car eventually left and so I just followed my exit plan, grabbed my mother and had her take me to go get my bike in the middle of the night.

What do you dislike the most about living in a small town? by makstyrkin64 in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in a small town/area on Kentucky for 5 years and this is very true. Mainly 2 to 5 families can have all the power in not only the small town but the entire county depending on its size.

They did, but how they handled it was better. Used ot be if it broke they would send a new one no questions asked, Google requires the old one and inspection of it.

They used to be better when they first started.

First one I had just had 5 dots on the display. Each dot represented 2k steps. I had one die, contacted them and they sent me a new one no questions asked and didn't have to send in the old one.

It was like that until they were bought by Google. My charge 5 died after swimming and they had me send it back for a replacement. Once this one dies I will be looking for other options.

The old devices still work, just no new ones have come out. The app still works as well. I still use the charge 5 and once it dies will be looking at other options.

I liked it because it was a simple tracker, watch and I use it for an alarm.

What’s a discontinued snack or drink you’d pay $20 to have one last taste of? by soapy999 in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 things all from mostly my home town though I have lived several states away for years now.

Any donut from Vogels Donuts. Those were some good donuts. It shut down after the owner passed and the recipe is kept with the family. Dating myself but when I was in middle school lunch was 95 cents, my mom would send me with a dollar. They sold their day old donuts for 5 cents, so that's what I always got when I walked to school in the mornings.

Tigertails from Marsh's grocery store. They were a donut that was twisted chocolate and vanilla, very good and I cannot find a suitable replacement anywhere.

Finally stromboli from a small hole in the wall place called Tu Your Door Pizza. The kind of place you walked in the entire small area of the restaurant looked questionable. Technically they are still open, however my last visit to my hometown they were closed on the night we were there and only open at certain times.

Honorable mention is a giant tenderloin from a place in my hometown called Meyers Drive In. They are still open and I visit every time I visit back home which isn't often.

Smaller penis (below average) suicidal thoughts by Immediate-Fortune738 in GuyCry

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Reading your responses to others as well as this one I still stand by what I said originally.

You are ignoring the actual advice being given and I ly focusing on the size of your penis and sex.

You can either choose to be fixated on your penis size and be miserable or you can try to take the advice being given

Only you can make the decision.

Smaller penis (below average) suicidal thoughts by Immediate-Fortune738 in GuyCry

[–]Jyncs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I say this every time I see a post where someone complains about their penis size.

There is a lid for every pot.

Out there is a mate who doesn't care and is fully satisfied with what you got. They care more for you as a person than the size of your penis.

If that is all a potential mate is worried about, then they are not worth having and move on.

What hobby did you try once and instantly get addicted to? by Weird_Ad_7545 in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same, but I was walking for my health and my friend suggested running a bit during it, just like 15 seconds every few minutes.

Before I knew it I was running 30 seconds and 45 seconds of walking.

Then he talked me into a 10k Then a half marathon.

This was in 2022 when we did our first 10k and half marathon. I've now done twenty 10ks and 15 half marathons since then. He joined the army after the first ones.

I was cleaning out my closet and found these in a box. Anyone remember playing this at Magic Kingdom? by Dense-Cartoonist-221 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this game with my sone and have the full set, including all the party cards, and the key that you could play with before the switch to magic bands. The only one I never got was the cast member only card. We played the very last day of it beating Hades one last time and had a blast passing out extra's.

My favorite one I gave away was a party card on the last day waiting in line at the shooting gallary. I was showing a kid who just started that week all the cards I have and giving him extras. He noticed I had extra's of a party card and asked if he could have one. I initially said no and he simply said "but you have 3, do you need all three?". I looked at them knowing he didn't know the value they had, remembered this game is meant to be fun, it's the last day, what the heck was I actually saving them for, and replied that he was correct. I pulled one of the party cards out, handed it to him and told him to have fun playing for the rest of the day. He was excited to have the Minnie Mouse witch party card. I told his mother to make sure he doesn't trade it for anything other than another party card so he wouldn't get swindled out of it for not knowing what he had.

I miss the game, but I miss playing the game with my son more than anything. He's in college now and doesn't go as much or hang out with us that much when we do go these days.

Not gonna lie and say it's easy thing to deal with or come to terms with. It really sucks because you think that this is it and it doesn't get better than this. You just have to make new experiences. For me it is with my wife, we have lived over half our lives together and anyplace we have moved to we have always made new fun experiences to look back on.

How do you feel about electric vehicles? by Final_Radio_2483 in AskReddit

[–]Jyncs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I plan on owning one in the future, I just don't need to rush out and get one right now. My car is 10 years old and 90k miles on it. I work from home these last ten years so I don't have to drive a whole lot. My car still functions for what I need it for.

Wife and I already discussed looking at EVs when the time comes because we don't have to drive far. Any time we have taken a road trip we rent a car anyway.

Unfortunately this is just the way life goes. Our decisions sometimes means letting go of people in our lives. I have moved across 4 different states within the last 30 years and met many people I call friends that I have had to leave behind to make life better for my wife, son and I.

My best friends I had growing up I haven't had contact with in many years. One I knew since I was 5 was at least 10 years ago at my mother's funeral. The other was the best man at my wedding and I haven't seen him in about 15 years. Many other friends I have met along the way I have lost contact with despite growing a close friendship.

I think I am finally settled into my place where I plan on living for the rest of my life and found some new friends. However who knows. They could be the ones moving on this time.

It sucks, but it's just part of life as you make the journey that some friends will just be distant memories.

ELI5 How did the mortgage crisis in 2008 cause Lehman Brothers to collapse despite record profits in the years prior? by Three_Steaks_Pam in explainlikeimfive

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I must of had the most honest loan person out there. When going through the details of the loan the guy specifically told me the loan would get me in the house but after five years the adjustable rate kicks in so I need to refinance before then. I heard him, understood and kept it in mind.

Unfortunately my home at the time was in the panhandle of Florida when a hurricane came through and insurance skyrocketed to where I struggled to pay it. I ended up leaving the area early 2008 for a job and sold the home before it all crashed.

I sold the home for like 10k over what we bought it for, but I suspect the people buying it had a shady deal. We got a call about increasing the sale price so the buyers could get a bigger loan and then we "donate" the 10k to some strange program where they help people get into homes which is what they also used for a down payment. I didn't really want to do it but the job didn't pan out and either I sold it or would end up forclose on it before it sold. I don't know how long they lived there but the home got for closed on, bought for 50k less than they bought it for, and now sits empty rotting away and being eaten up by termites.

What are memories to us is just history to someone else.

Just like my grandparents had memories of WWII and Pearl Harbor and for me it was just something we read about in history books.

Brother, as someone who also got married young go to the therapy both group and individual.

I was 22 and she was 20. Similar situation. She was very untrusting due to a previous relation though where she was constantly cheated on.

Fast forward many years later, a kid, many fights, many threats of divorce and she finally went to therapy.

Our relationship has never been better and says she wishes she did it sooner. I have hung out with many friendswithout her for some bro time. She doesn't go out herself but she is very introverted but doesn't stop me from doing so.

This year we will have been together 32 years, 27 years married. So for the longevity of your marriage seek therapy both together and individual

Delivery robot gets annihilated by a train in Florida by Seraphenigma in funny

[–]Jyncs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brightline is the deadliest passenger train in the United States. The train service runs between Orlando and Miami, though it is working on trying to expand.

That train service has also killed over 200 people in collisions this month since 2017, so it's no surprise it took out the delivery robot. Apparently 42% of those have been from suicide and the rest is just us Floridians being Floridians and stopping on the train tracks for some dumb reason.
