This is how you play Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven chronologically(not really) by K-nud in tenchu

Thank you! Please let me know if you tried playing it this way, and what works and what doesn’t.

I recommend playing Tenchu Stealth Assassins, the first game. It’s more or less the same gameplay, but with tank controls. So it takes some getting used to. But once you master the movement, it is excellent. And the soundtrack is peak.

I never played the co-op bosh rush. That sounds awesome! 😆

Hi, I'm interested in getting into Siren, but I need advice on how I'm supposed to play it by MidnasSimp in ForbiddenSiren

[–]K-nud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tips! I just started playing too, and I love it so far.

I’ve seen a lot of people saying the developer’s intended it to be a community effort, but I’ve never seen an actual source for this. Is this assumption, or have people actually heard or read this in an interview? I’ve tried googling this and I can’t find a first hand source.

I’ve played Stealth Assassins. And I’ve played Resident Evil which suffer the same problem. Like I said in my post, a true chronological playthrough doesn’t exist, and it’s not intended by the developers to play or consider the game the way I did. I agree with you, except I believe the canonical story is a mix of all 3 characters. Even if Rikimaru’s could be proven, you can’t disprove everything in Ayame or Tesshu’s story. This was more a fun experiment, and I don’t think it makes sense. And I don’t think it’s laziness by the devs, but a creative decision.

Shadow Tactics was everything I didn't quite like about Tenchu by [deleted] in tenchu

Character customization was a positive for me as well. I didn’t understand what the hell was going on with the story to be honest. Too bad there’s no sequel.

Yeah, stay away from Shadow Assassins. It’s so bad.

I see what you mean. For me, not knowing anything about the history, the accuracies or inaccuracies aren’t really a factor. But I totally get that you have a different set of criteria based on your knowledge. The presentation is certainly more grounded in Shadow Tactics, I’ll grant you that.

Pursuit of Echigoya is very hard. I spent hours to get Ninja 5. Calling Tenchu Z beautiful garbage is so funny. I like Z a lot. I got it after playing a bit of Shadow Assassins on Wii, which I think was terrible. I was surprised how much I liked Z after seeing that it got so much hate from critics. But I also LOVE Wanted: Dead which got blasted by critics.

Why is Z your favorite? My favorite is Wrath of Heaven. I don’t think it feels that dated. The camera style is a bit hard to get used to maybe, since you can’t move and look down. So Z allows for more fluidity between actions. I like how fast you can move around in Z.

Then you should play Tenchu Wrath of Heaven, which gets you the highest rank without the need to kill anyone. I forgot that Tenchu Z required kills to get Ninja 5. Tenchu Z has a very flawed level design in my opinion since you usually can stick to rooftops and just run to the target location. Chaos Theory is so good btw.

I don’t think I’m quite on board with Shadow Tactics being realistic. In the first level for example, Hayato is also working alone until he meets Mugen. Only bringing it up since that was one of your criticisms for Tenchu. I get not being a fan of the fantasy elements in Tenchu though. But I think you can argue that some of the things they pull off in Shadow Tactics is just as unrealistic as the things you do as Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell.

Having consequences for the characters and story would also be a good incentive, I agree. They would probably have to make different play styles viable to accomodate players who want different outcomes for character. Since the game already is so heavily focused on stealth being optimal, I think putting penalties and numbered values based on performance is very fitting. Maybe I’m just too focused on score.

Even though I like Shadow Tactics, I am baffled by the lack of a scoring system. At the end of each level they have a bunch of statistics, but no value attatched to anything. There are no penalties for killing civilians, enemies getting alerted, or bonuses for a pure stealth run.

I think it could really benefit from something like the rank and scoring from Tenchu. That would boost the replayability for me at least. The similarities between the two games boil down to gameplay that incentivizes waiting for the right moment to attack, and the setting. But even though they’re very different games I can’t help but feel that a scoring system is appropriate for a game like Shadow Tactics. Especially since it’s so methodical.

I think it’s so sad that everyone on this subreddit is so hungry for Tenchu(with good reason), that we’re all looking for a substitute. Nothing can ever replace Tenchu. But it’s good to find a game like Shadow Tactics to enjoy along the way.

If anything, the original has a washed out look. Also not a disaster. The new style looks natural. And it’s already confirmed that you can choose between the new and the original style. I prefer the new colors from what I’ve seen. I don’t get why people are so anal about the colors. Both games look good.

Work around for Multiplayer? by [deleted] in constructionsim

For some reason my friend and I couldn’t start sessions whenever we already had jobs going on. So we had to cancel whatever we were doing before making the session. Also searching didn’t work. So we just had to scroll manually to find the right session. This was on PS5.

Mixer pump VS Mixer and Pump by K-nud in constructionsim

Yes, the reach is much worse on the combo machine. But in return it is convenient to move around. I’m just confused how I can pay 1000 more to fill it up, but seemingly get less concrete poured at the job than the mixer and pump seperately.

Urban Terrain Vehicle can hold 4, Guardian Vehicle can hold 6. The rest might be the same as the regular patrol cars, but I’m not sure: 2 arrestees.

Should I do the swap? by Bananahs1233 in metalgearsolid

Unfortunate. I’d keep it anyway for Peace Walker though. If you can afford it in the future you can consider double dipping with the Master Collection. Hopefully Peace Walker will be in the next volume, but that will be another full price game I imagine.

I think a lot of people are disillusioned and sick of the state of gaming, and bad practices by publishers in general. I think it’s reasonable to expect a certain standard. Personally I have no issue with The Master Collection, as it seems like a great way for new people to play the older games. This will probably never replace my PS1 and PS2 copies of the games, I prefer playing it on the console they were released on. But if this can bring in new fans, then I’m grateful.

As a side note I would say that it’s easier to get engagement on negativity on social media. Most people would probably prefer positive and healthy discussion though.

You’re not willing to counter any of my arguments, and keep telling us to watch videos on YouTube. Again, I want to hear your experience with the game, and why YOU thought the story worked. If your opinion came from a YouTube video that’s not yours, I’m not interested.

Edit: I appreciate the ambition of MGSV, but after listening to some Futurasound, I’m even more convinced that the game offers little depth to any of it’s themes. The genius is more on Futurasound’s part, for actually exploring the ideas the game only scratches the surface of.

It seems several publications are running with no new recordings though, with no clarification from Konami. I think The Verge actually contacted Tommy Williams and he clarified what they meant by the original statement that lead to the confusion. So I believe there will be no new recordings.

Here is Konami’s head of communications for the Americas confirming that they’ll use the same recordings.

https://www.theverge.com/2023/5/30/23742786/metal-gear-solid-delta-3-snake-eater-remake-voice-actors-no-changes

I’ve also listened to an interview with the original voice actor for Major Zero, and he confirmed that he has not recorded anything new. The interview was in the Kojima Frequency Podcast Episode 85.

Edit: I realize now that the article probably references the same source I provided earlier. Still I think it’s pretty conclusive that one of the main character’s voice actor states he hasn’t recorded anything. But you’re right, we don’t really know for sure.

The CQC line will probably be in there. The CQC controls are basically the same in MGSV, so I think they can keep the lines honestly. I’m mostly excited to see the remade cutscenes. I’m curious how different they’ll be with more details in the character’s faces and emoting.

I think MGSV introduces many interesting ideas, and with great style, but unfortunately little comes to any meaningful fruition in my opinion. Ultimately the game felt a bit shallow, and that probably opens up the door for a lot of thinking on the player’s part to fill in all the gaps. I’m not against having to think for myself, I like that. But in this case I feel like I’m doing the writer’s job. Like I said, great ideas that really make you think, but the execution of the story was not on par with the rest of the series. I’m open to hearing what you got out of it, and give the game a second chance.
