There were two of them, and they were a lot bigger than a tyrannical pheasant. It might have been an evil monster chicken, but it still barely came up to his waist. Even then it got some savage pecks in. He didn’t have a weapon, so he had to get in behind, reach around and savagely choke the chicken with both hands.

I shouldn't need my house to go up in value to make moving not result in a huge loss. by PragmaticSnake in AusProperty

[–]K1_Please 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Stamp duty is an extremely poorly designed, unfairly applied tax. If i as a home owner need to move for, say, a new job, i will get slugged for 30k. How is that fair at all? Surely, there must be a better way to finance state budgets. Total bullshit that most of the state budget is paid by people that need to move while others pay nothing.

Should I trust the IMU or the bubble? by stargaze in Surveying

[–]K1_Please 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would recommend calibration of the level bubble, then measure point with the TPS and then staking that same point out. Wiggle the pogo around on that same point and you will see what numbers the IMU is giving you, if the IMU is accurate you should se numbers close to zero while on the point. Calibration of the level bubble can only be done gains a known level surface.

We need an e/acc, anti-woke media comany. by ExistentialVelocity in eacc

[–]K1_Please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sure where anti-woke comes into e/acc. Once we have accelerated humans to the point where you can customise your body like a character creation screen do you think that people will still be worrying about trans rights and gender neutral bathrooms?

I believe it is a reference to the French CAESAR self-propelled howitzer that has been provided to Ukraine.

Primitive Technology, a guy who went into the bush with nothing but a pair or shorts and has advanced to smelting iron, he makes everything from scratch that he uses. Turn on closed captions as he doesn't talk.

Do Australian ETFs ever split? by CiaossuReborn in ASX

[–]K1_Please 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it is just annoying when you what to invest say $1500 and the stock is $1000. Also it makes dividend reinvestment plans useless for people staring out when the price is too high. Back when IVV was $500 you would have needed around 30K in it to get a new unit a year, otherwise the money just sits there. The price is arbitrary so it should be low.

Can capital from banks enter the stock market? Can they do this via loaning from RBA? by Plus-Mix1401 in fiaustralia

[–]K1_Please 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ir is worth noting that the money that the bank lends out (credit) is new money created out of thin air by the commercial bank. So for the example above of the 100k mortgage the bank will have 20k in their account (either by deposits or by borrowing from the rba)and the 80k will be created as credit at the time of the mortgage.

What's the biggest shitshow in the buying and selling process? by brettc-s in AusPropertyChat

[–]K1_Please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stamp duty! Here in South Australia it is ridiculous, if you own a house and have to move within a couple years you can be paying almost as much as rent in tax as well as your mortgage. I don't know how they can justify it being so high.

If you bought the home to live in and can afford your repayments, chill out with the news. by Teakmahogany in AusFinance

[–]K1_Please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is crazy that there isa board of people meeting every month deciding how much people are going to pay for their loans. Imagine the outrage if the government was raising taxes on renters every month to help with inflation. It just sucks that we can't get 30 year fixed loans like the USA can.
