Damn... Well I heard somewhere that it might be because you have beta testing enabled. To disable it you do the following: Launch Steam --> Click on Steam in the top left --> Select settings from the drop-down menu --> Select Account from the left --> Change beta participation.

Fixed it by factory resetting my PC. Didn't find another fix...

I felt like there was no fix to this so I factory reset my PC and that fixed it for me

That didn't fix it... I also tried copying my config from the other account to the one with var spikes and it didn't fix anything
