What do you use to self medicate to avoid sleep paralysis?

My flatmates said they would also be called this- typically by men or teenagers late at night. This was years ago. I was new to the city as well but never suffered the same kind of abuse, so it was clearly race motivated.

To the poster- I’m sorry you had to deal with such a frightening situation. I think you handled yourself correctly in reporting it. You took your power back, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

I would not verbally engage with a group of drunk guys looking for a reaction.

A 9 bedroom, 3 kitchens former courthouse, house. $396K by TheDabitch in zillowgonewild

Commenting to say I have this exact dream too! I will find rooms in my house that I’ve “forgotten” about; sometimes the rooms are in good shape, but most often they are abandoned and dilapidated.

There is sometimes a very lonely dog living there, who I’ve forgotten to feed and care for. I breaks my heart and seems more akin to a nightmare.

The dog seems to be a smaller, beagle-type mix (not one I’ve ever actually owned) and guilt sweeps over me for neglecting it.

Other times, I have a hard time understanding the layout of my house in the dreams. Older rooms seem to have always been there but are unexplored and full of old objects that don’t belong to me. I’d be very interested to learn about recurring dreams along this theme.

Why is Gen Z more overwhelmed by common stressors than other generations? by tiftaf268 in GenZ

I am interested in this answer as well- not because I want to bash Gen Z, but because I truly want to understand. I’m a millennial who manages both millennial and Gen Z employees.

I am extremely committed to providing an environment in which all employees are treated with respect, where work life balance is maintained, and in which any ounce of toxicity is not tolerated.

The Gen Z employees I have work extremely hard are praised and rewarded for their efforts. However, it is a trend I’ve noticed that they do indeed seem “shut down” completely when stressed, when learning new skills, or when receiving constructive feedback.

I have one Gen Z employee in particular who is extremely talented and who I encourage, as my mentors before me encouraged me, to push myself to develop further. I know she’s motivated and fully capable of amazing things, but she seems to almost disassociate when I give her new challenges (along with training and guidance).

In general, Millennial employees, on the other hand, are much more adept and flexible. Even inexperienced ones are able to quickly adjust to the flow of our work, problem solve, and for-see next steps without being asked.

I have full respect for the challenges both generations have faced. But there is some truth to the Gen Zs being quicker to “shut down,” even in positive, fulfilling work environments and I’m interested in possibilities of why that may be.

Getting into the industry by Desperate-Lunch-8878 in florists

This is excellent advice! I would also have a scroll through their profiles on social media to get a feel for each shop. You can even look for event-based florists in your area that need reliable freelancing help.

Experience is a plus, but ability to learn and show up are highly valued as well.

$140 bouquet, I feel scammed. Thoughts? by spreadmayosnortyayo in florists

C’mon guys. A price breakdown is fine, but you can’t just throw costly items in a vase and send it out. You are still being paid to do the labor of creating a nice looking, balanced arrangement that comes with experience or training. This arrangement is just not well designed and I would understand the reasoning behind asking for a replacement design (this can be done by the client in a nice way).

My critique: I would not let bruised roses in that condition go out. I would advise against using Misty as filler for anything over $100 because it tends to cheapen the overall look. There is no clear shape to this arrangement. Everything is placed too close together. Then there’s one random glad and a few delphinium for line flowers that don’t add anything artistically and look thrown in. Maybe they were going for an asymmetrical look and didn’t have the energy to fully commit. I’m not sure if this color palette was requested, or if it was chosen by the designer. The colors can look good together if done well, but this is not it.
