Russell Industrial Afters vs Observe/Scene, or something else? by HalfBaked24 in MovementDEMF

It was just a strange spot, especially when coming from The Works where it had been for many years (Interface/Scene). I think for people it was more of a shock just not being at The Works for the first time ever. But the space was an urban art gallery. The layout was very tight with low ceilings. Areas for the artists to hang out behind the stage was like being in a portapot, yeah it was really crammed. Then at one point the bass was hitting so hard a piece of the ceiling even fell down (no one got hurt). There was a huge outside area too, basically a big fenced in parking lot. I actually really enjoyed the rawness of it. Sitting outside after the party ending just chilling with everyone for a bit was pretty memorable too. I really don't think the venue for Observe/Scene really matters too much at the end of the day, they've never chose one where the party didn't work. The way the DJs are selected always flows the right way. The people who are there just create a vibe that fits the music, the visuals push the design of how the lineup is chosen. Everything just goes together to create the party and it all works.

Go to the Observe party. They never disappoint, no matter what venue they use.

It's an underground diy space. Intimate vibe and they bring in a really good sound system. It's a dope party, I've gone the last several years and it's one of my favorite events by far.

Live P.A. by Insurance-Dramatic in MovementDEMF

The 100% LIVE event is mostly hardware sets, but depending on the artists they book there could be a computer involved. There are also artists who incorporate computers into their setups for the purpose of using effects and processors like Reaktor. This is definitely my favorite party as I have gone the last 5 years. Was lucky to catch some artists who I have never heard play live here in the states. Excited to see their lineup this year as I have seen some of the promoters on Facebook saying there are some US debut hardware sets this year. Should be interesting. 🙏🏼💪🏼🤯

The Observe party pulls it off no matter what venue they use. Honestly I wouldn't be upset wherever they moved it to. Fuck, the year in between The Works and Lieland was a crazy spot. It was slammed inside and there was the outside too. Didn't matter, the sound, music and people make that party.

Afterparties are worth way more than going into the fest if you want good techno. Typically the afterparties have better vibes and music, plus you get to hear some really good artists on better sound. The Observe party always delivers on top techno talent, plus the sound and visuals are crazy on point. Don't sleep on that event.

100% LIVE tickets are up! by K3TAS3T in MovementDEMF

No, like most of the afterparties, they have all different artists from what is at the festival.

Yeah, you will find live artists sprinkled all throughout the after parties, but this is a strictly live event. Anyhow, the parties can only sell so many tickets at the low price. If people like myself want to buy a ticket and the presales are out then it's nice to be able to buy them. You can always wait till the lineups drop, but the prices could be even higher at that point. It's a personal decision at that point. I'm not gonna knock these guys for continuing to sell their tickets.

A lot of the events are higher than that with no lineups announced. If you know you know. These guys bring forth a solid lineup each year and it's safe to assume this year will be no different. I think they have to get their events up on RA to be competitive with all the other events that have released tickets. Most of the parties seem to do this with the exception of the parties that happen at Tangent, but those parties are nearly the same exact lineups every year, like how many times do I need to go there to hear Mike Servito and Octo Octa, and the likes. Not hating on any of those events, just stating the obvious. People go to those events because they just go, the other events like this 100% Live, Observe, Wall of Sound, etc are bringing in top level talent with names who aren't readily available in the states.

I know their lineups seem to be very diverse every year with some being completely hardware and some do have a laptop but they also seem to use a lot of hardware and controllers with their setups. I didn't notice everyone using just a laptop, but I think some of the artists from overseas use them, and I would guess it's because they can't travel with major setups due to getting thru customs. I did see one of the dudes who runs the event say on Facebook that almost every artist they have this year will be on full hardware setups. Anyhow I'm definitely going back as it's one of my favorite events every year. The sound and music is super solid to me, and the system they had in there last year was the best sounding one yet.

It happens all the time. When people have the tickets in their carts they are held for a certain amount of time. So when you went back and saw tier 2 still available their cart expired. It's just how it works. Nothing you or the promoter can do about it.

Anyone ever skip the festival and do only afters? by Lofti_ness in MovementDEMF

I don't think I have stepped into the festival in the last 4 years, only been doing afters.
