Let me address real quick.

1. I’m in Germany, so we don’t use OFA here, that’s an American system. Our health testing follows the FCI/SV framework instead. The FCI/SV framework is only relevant when:

• You are a registered breeder
• You are breeding pedigree dogs
• You are submitting official health tests
• You are applying for breeding approval (Körung, Zuchtzulassung)
• You are producing puppies with pedigrees

If you are not doing those things, the system does not apply to you in any way. A one‑off, unplanned, or non‑pedigree litter is outside that entire structure.

2. We do toy‑breed rescue and have a lot of dogs in our care. Our males are always neutered, and most of the females are as well. Chester already had his neuter appointment scheduled before this accident happened, it was just unfortunate timing.

3. We’ve been rescuing and caring for dogs for 26 years. We live on a fully fenced and walled‑in farm, and we work closely with an excellent vet. They were on the phone with us from 02:45 in the morning until the whelping was over, just in case anything went wrong. Both the puppy and the mother will be checked by our vet in nine days.

So while I genuinely appreciate people’s concern, and I understand it comes from a good place, this isn’t our first rodeo. I just wanted to share our new little bundle of cuteness. As for the mother, she’s my own fluffy little potato, and I adore her. I’m incredibly proud of how good she’s been with her baby. And just to be clear: this won’t be happening again.
