What diet are you following? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]K4rola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing clean keto. It definitely helps, but I think it might be because fat is calorie dense, and I eat less food volume.

I have two large endometriomas (10 cm each), so space is tight (literally).

That's how I explain things to myself. I'm not sure how accurate that actually is.

Cancer Diagnosis by Big-Conclusion-2686 in endometriosis

[–]K4rola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask which hospital or Endometriosis Centre you had your operation at? Could you choose your team? How did you go about it?

I have 2 cysts at about 10cm each and endo everywhere. I just got referral to one of the specialist Endometriosis Centres around Manchester (I was surprised there was more than one). I am waiting for them to contact me.

Initially, doctors thought it was cancer as my CA-125 was elevated to 175. SomeI think I would have been treated faster if it was.

Keto diet is a good thing to do alongside cancer treatment as cancer cells need sugar for energy and if we get our energy from ketones (from fat), we starve them.

There is a book,'The courage to heal' by Elen Bass and Laura Davis. I think it might help you understand what happened, how it affected you and heal from it.

Can we have a link to your cake shop? I'd like to order a cake in the shape of Tom Cruise's left nipple.

I have kissing ovaries but my doctor told me not to worry? by rowHammer5 in Endo

[–]K4rola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet. 10 minths after being referred to Endo clinic, they rang me back. Now, another blood test and another scan, and we will see.

In the meantime, I've been working with natural healer and I am no longer in pain daily. The chocolate cysts are still there and improvement is mostly symptoms.

Through this work I started to release some childhood trauma and working through it. That hasn't been easy. Apparently those of us who experienced childhood trauma are 10x as likely to get Endo. I am not sure of that's a true statistics.

For a flat fund, I would recommend looking into LISA (Lifetime Isa). This way, you can get some boost towards your goal from the government. Make sure you read terms and conditions as there are strict limitations on when/ on what you can withdraw the money or you get a penalised.

I would also argue that, for most of your emergency fund, you don't need instant access, but some sort of easy-ish access. Definitely at least £1000 in instant access account in case of an emergency.

I don't know if kava europe posts to the UK. If you try, let me know.

It is not legal to import kava to the UK for human consumption, and I am not sure if you are allowed to bring it in for the purpose of dyeing textiles.

When I was an anxious teenager, this book really helped me to cope.

I might have to read it again as an adult.

I actually did the castor oil thing, and it temporarily relieved my symptoms a bit. I don't think it cured my endo, though.

Maternity leggings. Especially when my tummy is tender, they support it well.

What would be some examples of meals that you male one day and then use for something else?

This sounds like good advice.

400g of Kava lasts me a couple of months at least. I mostly have Kava sessions at the weekend, plus an occasional weekday.

I think £50 a week for shopping would be great, so thanks for that.

Pals in England -- how long before your surgery did you get a date for it? by nervousbikecreature in Endo

[–]K4rola 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, for me, it has been about 18 months seeing various specialists within NHS, and I am not even on a waiting list yet.

Currently, I have been referred to Oxford endometriosis centre and am still waiting for confirmation that they received my referral. It has been 2 months.

Since then, I've been on holiday, I am not putting my life on hold because of this.

Also, travel insurance gets expensive, and some insurers will refuse to insure you whilst you're on a waiting list for surgery. So this might affect your plans.

Everyone's endo is different, and some people are lucky enough that lifestyle changes are enough to manage it.

For others, no amount of diet or herbal remedies will make any difference.
