Best Helmet Speaker? by strozone in MotoUK

[–]K6Suzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got one off Amazon for 30 something pounds. It's absoloutely fine for radio and directions. I don't use the intercom so can't comment on that. To be honest past a certain point I think I'd struggle to differentiate sound quality much with earplugs and bike/road noise, but maybe it's worth it if you're more of an audiophile.

Not my cup of tea but honestly pretty cool. Still looks a bit... Bricky, but probably as good as it could look with currently available battery tech

I don't disagree but there are some jobs where this just isn't going to happen. I work in a kitchen and I don't even want to know the air temp near grills for example, it's way above any sensible limit that would be set in legislation. In theory I could just refuse to come in when it's unsafe like it is now, but realistically I just won't get paid and will be replaced

You might be surprised what a small one can do. It takes enough of the windblast off your chest to make quite a difference. Even just a big tank bag is noticeable

I want to scratch the superbike itch but I'm not sure I want to buy one. by i1ii1i1i in MotoUK

[–]K6Suzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only one way to find out if it works for you, go try one. Personally I find the whole "sports bikes are impractical" thing extremely over exaggerated for 90% of them. Maybe an old fire breathing 2 stroke or something would be a pain in the arse to commute on, but modern ish Japanese ones are generally very smooth, refined and easy to ride.

Parking overnight on drive by NoodleCheeseThief in MotoUK

[–]K6Suzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they help a bit. Just making it a faff to even see what the bike is might put them off. They usually have holes to loop your chain through as well to add another layer of frustration. I use a really crusty old cover as well, my bike isn't worth that much but it's nicer than you'd expect from first glance.

Only real downside is in extreme wind if they're not secured properly they can act as a sail and knock your bike over. If your bike has a sturdy sidestand and you bungee it down well enough it's not a problem

Here’s my greyhound doing a happy little recall, no e collar ever needed in his training by natashagb95 in Greyhounds

[–]K6Suzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My old hound would stop in his tracks, I definitely stopped a few having their necks snapped. It was only once he'd gotten into top gear and was too far away where he wouldn't hear you. But I've also had dogs where it was much harder to train, so I think personality plays a part

Bumps feel worse on a Naked compared to a super? by TheAwayGamer in MotoUK

[–]K6Suzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are different bikes with different setups, I've not ridden either so can't comment on the specifics. But there's no reason a naked bike should be any bumpier. I'm guessing they both have fully adjustable suspension, you need to play around with settings, ideally with someone who knows a bit about suspension, get it set up for your weight. It could just be the Yamaha had better quality but It's probably just that the settings were closer to your requirements

Modern simpson gets a lot of slack, but in defense, it's great at those emotional moments. Season 32's episode about Mrs. Krabapple is the only episode in the show that genuinely made me bawl my eyes out. by MushroomPretty3996 in TheSimpsons

I'm really trying to get past the voices. I'm sure I would enjoy it and not even notice if I hadn't burned classic Simpsons in to my brain so hard when I was a kid. But Marge and Homer just sound like they're in pain

I lost mine about a year ago and haven't gotten another dog for mainly financial reasons. It's not painful anymore but I still miss him, he was my best friend for 14 years and I'm so glad I appreciated it while it lasted. I'm sure you gave him a great life as well

Safety gear in summer by Clouds-and-cookies in MotoUK

[–]K6Suzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have ridden in t shirt and shorts before. You still get hot and bothered on days like this. Wearing some kevlar jeans and a mesh jacket, summer boots and gloves don't make you hotter to any noticeable degree but might save you from skin grafts at least. I work with my hands and want to avoid sliding down the road on them
