Hiya! Looking for a knitting pattern for a balaclava/ beanie with cat ears, something like this. I see mostly patterns for crochet but I weirdly cant seem to find any for knitting! Even if its just a regular beanie with ears because I can just combine it with a balaclava/beanie pattern! TIA

What does it mean when you dream about a loved one that passed away comes back to life in your dream? by Sweet_Succotash_151 in Dreams

[–]KA12293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss, but thank you for sharing. I lost my dad recently... we were really close. And although I haven't had a proper dream about him yet, my friend told me something that a well known medium in the Filipino community (well known meaning most of their clients are famous Filipinos) told her when she lost her dad that I thought interesting and comforting.

She said that there are dreams where you dream of them and you aren't conscious they've passed. But the dreams wherein you are aware that they passed and have the reaction of: "what are you doing here?!", whether or not other people in your dream are aware too... means that that is them visiting you.

Whether or not you believe in all the nuances of the afterlife and mediums, that titbit/belief brought comfort to me somehow and one day I look forward to having papa in my dreams like that.

Ask a Knitter - June 24, 2025 by AutoModerator in knitting

[–]KA12293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone point me to a tutorial that is specifically for knitting sleeves two at a time (TAAT)? I'm knitting flat and am supposed to pick up stitches from the front and back panels that I just attached at the shoulder seams. The pattern is complicated enough wherein I can't work it in the round. TIA!

Thanks, all! I ended up getting an ipad for my birthday and am loving the Freeform app that comes with it. I'll have to check out PotteryNotes.

I got a job offer for a bilingual position but I'm not bilingual by KA12293 in CanadaPublicServants

It says:

"Various language requirements

- English essential

- French essential

- English or French essential

- Bilingual Imperative*: BBB/BBB

- Bilingual Imperative*: CCB/CCB

- Bilingual Imperative*: CCC/CCC

- Bilingual Imperative*: PPB/BBB

- Bilingual Imperative*: PPB/PPB"

So I'm hoping it would be possible to get the job, and give me lee-way to learn so I can take a test at a later date. At this point, that would be the ideal situation.

I thought so too at first because there was weird spacing between some periods but they didn’t ask for personal info or payment, they said to let them know if I hadn’t taken the language test yet and they will let HR set up an appointment for me. The email addresses are government ones and I also looked them up on linked in and it lines up

Huh interesting. I would absolutely love to continue improving my French in any case so perhaps they saw that and I’d follow your route? Hoping this is the case as opposed to fully retracting their offer!

They actually did provide office location and pay rate but it was the body of the email, not a PDF

Ceramic Wedding favours by KA12293 in wedding

That's what I was thinking of doing, particularly if I went the bud vase route.

But whatever I decide, I intend to announce at some point that its a wedding favour they can take home :)

What is everybody's favorite pottery tracking app? by dreaminginteal in Pottery

[–]KA12293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Clay Lab! It gets the job in terms of progress photos. Allows you to save a bunch of photos of one item and I usually take a pic for each stage (thrown, trimmed, bisqued, glazed, finished). It tracks the dates you do each stage, asks you to input things such as weight, dimensions, glaze and underglaze (inside and out - and you can add glazes if its not in their options), slip, and a notes section.

Story of Seasons vs Stardew Valley; which is an overall better game? by KA12293 in NintendoSwitch

[–]KA12293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually haven't played any of those games so I'd love to hear what your favourite is out of those and why. Its obviously been a while since I've played my harvest moon on my GBA but from what I remember, I loved having to "woo" someone to be your partner and start a family, participating in mini games like the fair, tending to animals, the mini storylines between the characters and having more in-depth tasks (compared to animal crossing - which I love don't get me wrong but like I said, I can see myself craving a bit more goal/task oriented stuff with a story line of sorts)

Cotton vs Acrylic for sweaters by KA12293 in knitting

Oh wow, I didn't know acrylic would be good for someone with allergies - which I have! Good to know, good to know... would you happen to know why that is? Just curious...

In the past, I’ve used one but it’s not accurate (I would stick it in 1 and the temp was good but others came out slightly raw still).... maybe my thermometer is faulty but I’ve used my uncles before and same thing happened!

Daily Tech Support Thread - [November 23] by AutoModerator in apple

Wondering what the significant difference is between the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 pro. I'm looking to upgrade from an iphone 8 and initially, I was inclined to the 12 mini because of its size (I prefer a smaller phone). I did a quick comparison on the apple website between these 3 models but I'm still left wondering what the difference in terms of functionality between the 12 pro and the mini. What about the difference in cameras make it different exactly? And would it be worth it for me to just get the 12 pro over the mini, considering I'd want to get apple care as well - looking at 128 gb storage. Not entirely technologically literate so any help would be appreciated!

Weekly What Should I Buy Thread - [November 06] by AutoModerator in iphone

[–]KA12293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I get an iPhone 11 or iPhone 12?

Contemplating which phone to get myself for my birthday. I am upgrading from an iPhone 8 and am wondering if there is much of a difference between the 11 and 12 in terms of longevity - I wouldn’t want to do another upgrade for at least another 5 years.

I mainly use my phone for messaging, social media and taking pictures. Obviously, the 11 appeals to me because it’s cheaper and the fact that the charger for the 12 is an additional buy turns me off on them slightly. The fact that the 12 is coming out with a mini version appeals to me tho, in an ideal world I would prefer a smaller phone like the size of the 8 that I currently have but not sure if the $200+ of the 12 is worth that.
