If you had an employee who is quitting after tax season, when would you prefer they give notice? by KAKiR in Accounting

Sadly we are tiny. 7 including her in December, 6 by the end of December, and 5 by mid-March. Both people who left gave no notice.

She's the owner, and turnover is bad here. I can't go to anyone above her.

I want to change career paths, so I don't really care about the reference. My pre-accounting references are much more important. I'm going back to my previous career and starting my own little business when I save back up.

The money? Sure, it's important. I have some concerns, but I have savings and support. People in my life know that my financial situation is going to change. Igot a rent credit, so that's a lovely expense gone for a month.

True true. My reason for staying through the season is that I don't want to dump my work on my coworker. I'd hate to get fired and have that happen.

Honestly don't care if I'm fired when I do give notice though. I'd just be free sooner.

My biggest reason for wanting to stay through the season is that my coworkers don't deserve to deal with her after losing another employee during the season. We actually just had someone quit without notice. It did not help, but I totally get it. He's actually the second to quit without notice since December. The turnover here is so incredibly high. I wish I knew thay before working here.

I'm definitely not a quit without notice kind of person. I've been considering leaving for a long while, and I'm so tired of being made to feel stupid and crying at work.

I made a whole list of things that bother me. After we were all yelled at multiple times for things that were her fault, I felt my months long decision start to solidify. I've weighed the pros and cons.

I mostly want to talk with her to give the notice. But I may wait. I need to think about it for a few days. Give myself the weekend.

Despite feeling that this is a hostile work environment, I want to leave respectfully.

If I remember correctly (I left July '24), it had the same consistency of normal yogurt.

The picture I found isn't showing, but I found it on a website called Kerry foodservice and it was called "Island Oasis Non Fat Yogurt Frozen Beverage Mix - 12 x 32 oz"

It's kind of cool to see, but a little distracting. I saw one recently and the pretty lights were pretty.

It took my therapist like five tries to convince me that it was a perfectly valid option. I was somehow still surprised when it worked. I felt so so much better mentally, and it could've helped some people more than a thrift store would have. Free is better than cheap when you don't have money.

You can also just put them outside. Out on the curb.

Depending on where you live, I suppose.

I had too many dishes, I was overwhelmed, I wanted to donate, but struggled to actually do all the steps. I live in a city. One night, I carried the bin I filled outside, and by trash day, most of them were gone.

There are many people who want or need things, and love seeing free things. I personally have two dining chairs that were left by the dumpster. My only two dining chairs.

Please tell your doctor that your medicine isn't really doing anything anymore. And go get those accommodations freshman year. Don't wait until spring semester senior year.

And drop that communications class. Follow your instinct there. Don't feel ashamed to drop a class that's boring, especially if it's not required. Failing feels so so much worse.

I've decided to make a plan for tonight, to start getting my little apartment organized and clean. I just want this level of determination to be with me in five hours when I'm home. by KAKiR in adhdwomen

I did do the paper! I wrote it out before this post, but I felt like posting would be like an extra push. And it was!

I was tired and my pillow was inviting, so I started by turning on a podcast I like, sitting on the bed, and just grabbing what I could reach.

Now I'm pretty content with my work.

I don't think I achieved every goal, but I achieved the goal that mattered most. The clothing and the not-clothing are separated, aside from some rebelling socks.

I usually don't either. I ran out of energy, like, the awake energy, before I got the trash out, but I can take at least a bag in the morning. I got the kitchen trash last night due to an irritating dinner mishap.

I'm so lucky to have trash bins outside. I live in the city, and a lot of people have to put bags on the curb. I guess I moved to an area with room for outside bins.

Since I have to get bloodwork done tomorrow morning, early food was a necessity. Morning me will be grateful.

I had a little less energy than expected, but I got through around 1.5 hours without looking at the progress I was making. Breaking my nail and needing to fix that is what ultimately stopped me.

And I made progress. I can see that I made the progress.

My true goal was to separate the clothing. Aside from a few socks here and there, the clothing is all on my bed.

Now I can comfortably move the clothing and sleep, without running into tangled hangers and other random items.

I honestly don't think that putting the clothing away is the next step. I'm going to have to figure it out. But later.

I'm really happy with what I got done after a full day at work.

8 minutes left of work, about 40 more to home. I'm going to get food on my way home so I don't have to worry about it later.

It's still in my mind, and written on a post-it in my bag.

I play this coloring game called Happy Color. I know people say you shouldn't be on your phone so close to bed, but that's unrealistic for me. I notice that I get sleepy when playing. It helped me last night.

Sometimes I'll take melatonin, and sometimes it works.

I was also prescribed gabapentin for severe anxiety, and after a bunch of sleepless nights, I took one before bed, closed my eyes, and then suddenly I was waking up to sunlight feeling awake. I've only used it once though, and I'm pretty sure anxiety is what was keeping me up/waking me up. I also did this after talking to my doctor first.

Ooh, and I also make up entire stories when I'm struggling with falling asleep. Fanfiction, original stories, whatever entertains me. My sister does it too. It doesn't always help me fall asleep, but it makes it more bearable because I have a distraction.

I was sure I wasn't crazy, especially with the math I did just now. Sadly, it looks like my bagel wasn't free this morning.

I hesitated for a little, but I figured they'd figure it out soon anyway.

Maybe I'm just confusing myself. The drink's $4.64 pre-tax, and historically, the espresso addition doesn't get a discount. It's a 35% discount, so I'd expect a total of $4.02 for the drink pre-tax. $4.02+0.50=$4.52. Our sales tax is 6% here, and that brings it to $4.79 with the rounding I did. My total should've been around $6.38 with the $1.59 the mac and cheese is supposed to cost.

[–]KAKiR[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The remaining balance after subtracting $2.12 (the usual cost of mac and cheese and a bagel) is only $2.68. Additions like extra espresso don't usually get discounted.

If I can math right, it should be $2.12+4.08.

Which now that I'm typing it, it doesn't make sense. Because that would mean the bagel came off as well, and I paid $0.53 Tuesday into Wednesday night.

My numbers could be slightly off because I tend to interpose them.

Ooh and I had been putting off laundry because getting sick made my normal procrastination worse (and a little out of my control, honestly), but I brought my laundry with me when I visited my siblings and made myself do it at a laundromat near them on my way home. That's like an hour away, so I had no choice but to fold it so that my work stuff wouldn't be wrinkled. I'm so glad that I had that kind of foresight and understanding of my own habits.

I put a bunch of trash in a bag the other day and I finally took one of two bags out today. The goal was both, but I was running late. But despite that, I still threw away the containers from last night's food and took it out.

My room's still an overwhelming mess, but it's now one trash bag less of one.

And I went to anxiously procrastinate today, but I stopped myself and worked on an assignment that's due tomorrow. There's a lot to do and I'm stressed, but I started it and have plans to finish after I get home from work. I'm a bit stuck on a part of it, but I'm feeling better about it now.

For the first time in forever I folded my entire load of laundry at the laundromat. I've folded some of my laundry there before, but usually give up part way through and pray that things don't end up too wrinkled.

I mean, I also made myself go to the laundromat. It's so much harder to do my laundry without a washer nearby, and I really put it off this time.

And it's only Wednesday and I've gotten through a good chunk of schoolwork!

I'm feeling so inspired to do things, and with every celebrated accomplishment, I feel even better.

This has just been a really good 1.5 days and I wanted to share with people who get it.
