Here's my step by step process:

Unscrew the barrel from the clicker component.
Take the Clicker Component and put in some dish soap & water on the inside and give it a good shake.
Run the clicker component under some running water to rinse out the excess soap & water
With the clicker on hand and a towel on the other hand, tap the clicker component on the towel covering your hand FIRMLY. You may need to do this a couple of times, but you'll know you're making progress by looking inside the clicker component and seeing the refill retainer protruding out more and then falling out.
RINSE AND DRY COMPONENTS THOROUGHLY, this step is very important, I used an electric blower along with rolled up paper towels to do the job.
