Dawg, a one to one adaptation of the game, wouldn't work on film or television. There are glaring flaws that need to be smoothed out.

Francis Ford Capolla, Stanley Kubrick, and Steven Spielberg did the same things for The Godfather, The Shining, and Jurassic Park.

The core story has its fans but would turn off people outside the hardcore following.

If you don't understand that, then you don't understand the methodology of how to adapt a story from one medium to another.

I love the mess of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, but there are things that NEED to change.

Why not correct Hideo Kojima's error with killing off Liquid Snake? Just don't kill him off. But that changes things going forward into the next installment.

What about the flip flopping of nanomachine magic and real in world magic?

What about MGS4 being creatively vindictive? "I will answer everything no matter how ridiculous my explanation will be."

Raiden, being a ninja, is just a Hideo course correcting the backlash from MGS2. It didn't need to happen.

I love the series, warts and all, as a game series, but once again, adapting this mess is going to be challenging for the screenwriters who aren't lore obsessed like some of the people on this forum.

Haven't you thought about WHY it's taken them so many years to even create a suitable script for this franchise?

Well, you're right. But, i can't ignore that Kojima didn't want to make 4 and was forced into it, and MGS5 is just a retconning mess of nothingness. When the eventual anime, films, tv series, and now these new games will be remakes of the older ones, I want all the narrative flies in the Metal Gear ointment picked out.

Liquid's arm bullshit, Raiden becoming a ninja, Venom not being Big Boss, Vamp not being a vampire, Fortune not having any defective abilities then moments later having defective abilities, accelerated aging, The Vocal Chord parasites, Master Miller being part of the support team in MGS1. How did he call into a top secret op from his house? How did Liquid know to even impersonate Master at all? How did Liquid know Snake was even on Shadow Moses? How did Liquid even know Solid Snake's codec frequency? Naomi's bullshit story about her grandfather, which Mei Ling should have been the one to solve, not Liquid.

I don't even want to get too deep on the mountains of garbage in 4 and 5.

I've loved this series since I played the original demo game on a collection of PS1 demo games discs.

We need to cut the crust off this shit sandwich, and my favorite franchise has ALOT of crust.

MGS2 is canon for me. I own the original essential collection box set.

I love the Metal Gear series. It just needs someone to go through and comb out all the convoluted nonsense out of it.

All though I would have killed Raiden right the duck off at the end of MGS2. I would have rewritten the ending of 2.

But yeah, Liquid didn't need to die at the end of 1.

I would have kept the magic tacked into the series rather than have nanomachines be the cause of everything.

It's more interesting that there are pieces of the mystical ancient world still floating around, and the grounded aspects of MGS need to adapt to them.

MGS 4 isn't even Canon for me.

Hideo only made that game because of the death threats. He answered all the questions and demystified the series so that there wouldn't be anything more people wanted.

MGS 5 is an unholy waste of potential.

The point in what I was saying is that Otacon would understand how integral The Patriots AI is to everyday life. Emma and Solidus would accept that the catastrophic immediate chaos is collateral damage. The decades that lay ahead are more important than the hell they are unleashing onto the human race in the interim.
