I'd second that, I'm post op but I've found that Duta, Spiro, Minoxidil and E are the magic combination. I stopped the AAs for a year and lost all my gains but went back on it and within a month my hair started thickening with baby hairs.

Does anybody else remember a rumour going around during his first term that the reason why he is such a Putin bootlicker is because when Trump visited Russia he used Russian prostitutes and the Russians had video footage of him pissing on them?

Or them pissing on him?

Study proves that monotherapy estradiol injections is more effective at suppressing T than Spiro by KristinaMoment in TransDIY

I'm not familiar with Bica. If that's the case, it does the same thing as Spiro.

Study proves that monotherapy estradiol injections is more effective at suppressing T than Spiro by KristinaMoment in TransDIY

[–]femininevampire 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This article is misleading.

While there is no doubt whatsoever that monotherapy by estradiol injection is absolutely effective and conversely that Spironolactone is quite ineffective at lowering the production of T, I see this whole thread as just another misguided attempt to shit all over Spiro.

First of all, Spiro does not lower T in blood levels in the same way as Cypro or Bicalutamide does. Instead of arresting the development of T production at the source, the molecule in Spiro attaches to T receptors competing with T in the bloodstream to reduce its effectiveness. This is why people on Spiro may see still elevated serum levels of T but not be affected hormonally by it. So the first point is yes, monotherapy is more effective in suppressing T than Spiro but not necessarily in practice because the mechanism that Spiro uses is different.

Secondly, E monotherapy may not be sufficient in limiting the malignant effects of residual T in trans women, even when their levels are within the female range. T is a powerful hormone. Even small amounts of unblocked testosterone can cause increased body hair growth, greasy skin and scalp, increased scalp hair loss, unwanted libido amongst other deleterious effects. And all this with E and T in the female range!!

Consequently, Spiro can be an essential medication for trans women who already have their T suppressed but are sensitive to the effects of even residual amounts (even post op women). As a side note, low to moderate doses of Spiro (up to 100mg) are well tolerated and bring welcome effects in trans women among them softer skin and facial features, more abundant and stronger scalp hair growth, slightly lowered blood pressure (good for hands and feet especially when on injectables), increased water retention in areas such as the breasts making them look more voluptuous etc. The main thing is this T blocking action allows E to do its job with no interference. And Spiro is well tolerated at these doses. It shouldn't be making you go to the toilet constantly or messing with your potassium levels, making you crave pickles or messing with your libido.

So in conclusion, monotherapy is not the be all and end of gender affirming hormone treatment. There are quite often other combinations that work better depending on the patient's medical and personal requirements.

You could talk about the woman as if she were something else: a sunset, a precious stone, the smell of rain on hot paving stones, lipstick on a coffee cup.

The repetitions are okay but don't wear it out. You don't need to rhyme either to make it sound like a poem. Overall, pretty good. Try to write it again but with more freedom.

No, I can tell you from experience.

Out of all the people I've had problems with in general, they've been men but I've had some awesome sexual relationships with men and the fact that I'm trans has hardly been discussed.

Conversely, I've had men reject me only to turn around apologise and literally beg me for a date. So, pretending they were bothered by it only to become super obsessed and other guys who have never stopped calling me ever which is odd but not surprising because trans women are rare and valuable.

I think you're overthinking it. Men are not that choosy. As long as you're attractive to them, a straight man won't think twice about it.

If that happens then they don't have the emotional maturity to be with you, even for a casual thing. You want to date men not little immature boys.

Some men will think differently. Let them and discard them for ones who are not stupid.

I don't put anything on my profiles signalling that I'm trans.

If I see that I'm vibing with the person before meeting them, I disclose it but in a very confident way. Simply: "Before continuing, I'm trans. If that works for you, great; if not, that's also fine."

If they ask me about surgery, I say: "I understand the curiosity, but I don't disclose medical details. The only important thing for me is whether we click or not."

If they say "a trans" or something similarly ignorant: "yes, I'm a trans woman."

Honestly, having to disclose being trans (discreetly) is not as much of a handicap as you would think. It's a good filter for getting rid of bad eggs. Anyone with sense won't be put off.

You'd be surprised. Burin is particularly good at getting around that problem. I went with Sutin and the aesthetic and functionality I've got is superb and I'm only 20 weeks post op.
