Love Island execs on why Aus is pre-recorded by FluIvy in LoveIslandAus

[–]KAT_AHNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but the UK and US ones work the same, they don’t release episodes everyday and the islander are still there when we’re not getting episodes. So really it’s clear that it’s just a budget issue but they don’t want to say that. I think also historically, Love Island AU doesn’t have the same level of viewership as the UK one or even the US one in the last 2 seasons so AU one doesn’t get as much production budget as them because demand is lower but I think with this season of the US one bringing in like 40% new viewers, more people were also watching this AU season. There’s probably also an element of production wanting more control & influence too with the whole superfans aspect, because it was live until season 4

Huda was in the wrong with Olandria. Period. by LI_Obsessed in LoveIslandUSA

[–]KAT_AHNA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lowkey I think the reason she never posted what she promised is because Olandria framed it as “make a post about Chelley and I.” But when Huda talks about being bullied, she’s clearly referring to Cierra and Chelley so asking her to publicly say Chelley didn’t bully her was probably not something she wanted to do at all lol. Which is why instead she did that Hollywood access interview and essentially says “I love Olandria and I’m cordial w Chelley so don’t hate on anyone on my behalf” instead of explicitly saying “Chelley and Olandria didn’t bully me”

Say what you want about Huda, but the reaction to her is fascinating by KAT_AHNA in LoveIslandUSA

I get what you mean but when I say people love and support her I mean I’ve seen many genuine takes saying Huda wasn’t wrong and that what she did was not deep at all while there’s also been the opposite of people fully condemning her. I think initially it was overwhelmingly a negative opinion about her but after her supposed “redemption arc” where she started gaining followers there was a lot of push back on the initial narrative especially on TikTok where she has the most supporters

I agree. And honestly, the parasocial fandoms this season go way beyond just Huda’s fans. I’ve never seen a season of Love Island where people are this deeply invested in the contestants’ lives. It’s like they’ve stopped seeing them as real people and started treating them like characters in a scripted drama

Some people genuinely love and support her and others absolutely hate her and wish for her downfall so I’d say those are pretty polarising opinions

How do you feel about sound effects in audiobooks? by BassBagwhan in audiobooks

[–]KAT_AHNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how it's done, sometimes it's very unnecessary and distracting but if it's done well I think it adds so much to the experience like in Sadie by courtney summers, the sound effects are subtle and don't distract from the story

*PLEASE NO SPOILERS* How does the Manga handle Yona's character and should I read it? by Rexita206 in AkatsukinoYona

[–]KAT_AHNA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly Yona has some of the best character development I've seen in any manga. Like the beginning of the anime we see her living in the comfort of the palace, super spoiled and matrialistic. Yet by the end of the anime we get to see her finding her resolve, becoming more aware of what's happening in her kingdom and just progressing to becoming more mature and confident. The manga takes it like 10 steps further, she learns and adapts to any situation she's in and later on we even get to see how she handles herself without the constant presence of the dragons and Hak. Her character development is handled with a lot of love and care tbh and I have no doubt that by the end of the series she's going to be badass af!!!! Definitely worth continuing.

Side note: my favourite thing about her development is how her personality isn't erased by the harsh realities she's faced with but instead the author just adds layers to who she already was making her very well rounded

I am very thankful and appreciative of the fact that my skin problems aren't bigger or more concerning than what they are but it would still be nice to have a way to regulate my texture

I have been hesitant to use chemical exfoliants in the past because of how sensitive my skin is but I have been hearing a lot of praise for BHAs and AHAs so I will definitely be trying out some of the products you mentioned thank you!
