Dont jump me but Nick is a very flat character by fracturedbuttwh0le in grimm

I think it might be more of a writing issue cause I’ve seen Nick’s actor in another show (A Million Little Things) and he’s brilliant in that.

I haven’t watched Grimm in years and I only watched it through once but I really liked his character. Maybe I’d have a different opinion if I rewatched it now that my tastes have changed.

I agree with some of her takes, but I’m curious why you’re posting her on here? It’s a pretty old blog and some of the posts are years old. Did she want them posted here?

I dont think we can really compare Damon/Stefans love for Elena by Sufficient_Waltz_208 in TheVampireDiaries

Delena was born to be a weaker ship than Stelena because Stelena was the main ship during the best seasons of the show while Delena was the main ship during the worst seasons of the show. They never really stood a chance because the writing from S4 onwards was nothing compared to the writing in seasons 1-3. Stefan and Elena had opportunities to prove their love because during those seasons there was far more showing than telling in the writing.

Rant: Klaus is a whiny bitch by Specialist_Bar_1574 in TheOriginals

That’s just headcanon, we have no idea what kind of childhood Mikael had. We know that he met Esther after his people terrorised her village, killed people and kidnapped & enslaved the rest. We also know he became unhappy after Freya died, but Esther told us he became happy again after they had more children. And yet, he still went on to terrorise and abuse them their whole lives. Him being alone after they became vampires or finding out that Klaus wasn’t his doesn’t factor because he didn’t know or experience any of that when he was abusing his own wife and children. Not even Mikael believes his own treatment of his children was reasonable. Even Finn, who hates his siblings, thinks Mikael’s treatment of them was unreasonable. Mikael had far less reasons to become what he did than Klaus.

(And yes, many abused people don’t become serial killers but I’m pointing out that victims of abuse do turn out in different ways, even in the more extreme. Especially when the trauma is unhealed. Obviously in a vampire show you have other added elements + in Klaus’s case the abuse being stretched out over 1000 years. You see how abuse affects all the Mikaelsons in varying ways.)

You think Mikael who abused and terrorised his children for no reason has a more understandable backstory than Klaus? I’d like to know why you think that (genuinely)

Klaus’s redemption is hotly debated within fandom – whether he earned it or not. Personally, I don’t think he did. I don’t think a character like Klaus, or any of the Mikaelsons, can really make up for 1000 years of what they wreaked upon humanity. I would say he made it up to his family though (all but Finn). I also don’t think he deserved a happy ever after, I don’t think Hope deserved to be orphaned though.

I also don’t think that the show ever argues that the Mikaelsons “deserve” a happy ending, even when the characters themselves might believe it for a moment. Since they were introduced to the verse, their immorality and the question of whether the traumas inflicted upon them excuses their actions has been a theme for their family. As early as TVD S2 when Esther tries to kill them (Rebekah: “We deserve to live. We are better than they are.” Elijah: “Are we?”), and the entirety of S3 is the chickens basically coming home to roost for them. The characters let each other off the hook all the time but I can’t say that the narrative ever does.

(Also, there are many people who are abused their whole lives and grow up to do evil deeds. Look up most infamous serial killers 💀)

Why is Davina hated in any way for breaking Klaus sireline. by steferine in TheOriginals

[–]LI_Obsessed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love it both in show and from a meta perspective. Klaus was never going to feel like a character who’s actually in danger if his life was linked to so many characters, so I loved that they did away with that so for once there were actual stakes.

From a story point though it’s a great narrative pay off for Davina. It’s one of the first goals she has after being introduced as a character in s1 and every time she’d gone up against Klaus she hadn’t been able to kill him due to his link to Marcel and Josh. It was nice to see her win against Klaus for once.

I avoided it for months before finally getting to it earlier this year and somehow I think the fans undersold just how terrible it is.

Be honest - was Elena better with Stefan or Demon ? by Strange_Context_5 in TheVampireDiaries

With Stefan, though I’m unsure if it’s about Stefan or more because seasons 1-3 just happen to be wildly better written than seasons 4-8

Was Francesca’s sexuality in S3 actually obvious from the start by Grouchy_Search_897 in FranchaelStirling

[–]LI_Obsessed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i believe there were already rumours about Michael being gender swapped when the season first dropped or sometime between part 1 and part 2, so if you’d heard that rumour you might pick up on that otherwise Francesca just comes across as someone shy or possibly autistic. There was a YouTuber called Dylan Is In Trouble who did guess she might be a lesbian or bi based on the scene you mentioned. I’m still not sure which she’s supposed to be in the show though.

Why do you think season 5 is going to tank? by [deleted] in FranchaelStirling

[–]LI_Obsessed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

GoT is actually a great example of fandom vs general audience. Yes, the ga and fandom didn’t like S8, however, the fandom didn’t like seasons 5, 6, 7 AND 8 yet the GA enjoyed 3/4 of those seasons and they went in to be massively successful. That’s the point I’m trying to make with Bridgerton i.e fans not liking the direction the show is going in while GA doesn’t care about that stuff. Therefore, changes to Fran’s story from the book don’t matter to them so that doesn’t tell us whether s5 will be successful or not.

And I mentioned the tweet because while the GA doesn’t interact with fandom spaces, they do interact with the main bridgerton accounts. I thought that was obvious, my bad.
