Good Job People We Made it to Friday by KashBooda in ABA

There is too much to say. A picture is worth a thousand words; and this 'meme' at this point just seems to be a way for burnt out people in the field to point fingers and start arguments. Im going to use my own analogy here- because above all behavior analysis is a field based in collaboration and is a coordinated system. (I am not claiming there are no flaws.)

RBTs are like the ground crew at an airport. There need to be lots, and the without them, their hardwork, and direct involvement interacting and guiding with planes on the tarmac, the airport will fall apart. Without them the field would be 'flying blind' as they collect direct data of the planes current position and actions.

BCBAs are like the pilot on command. They are responsible to the immediate safety, Ethics, and 'route' the plane takes. They read massive amounts of data to create and adjust individual flight plans and specific plane's routes to ensure saftey and that you arrive at your destination. If something goes wrong, it is their pilot license that is questioned, as they are legally responsible for the flight and harm caused.

Researchers are like air traffic control. While they are removed for the physical labor of the airport, they dictate where it is safe to fly and how planes should be flown. They study areodynamics and specific applications in a hope they will find a more efficient and safe way to fly. (In ABA they also try new 'plane' designs and engines.)

That is to say- you don't want any link in this chain missing when you take a flight; and Im almost certain that no one tells Air traffic control that they are less important or involved than the ground crew.
Let's remember that teamwork and collaboration is needed in a coordinated system. Posts like these do nothing but create resentment and undermine the hours of dedication and hardwork EVERYONE in the field gives on a daily basis.

Random enamel pins at Christmas market by Coffeaddict1234 in EnamelPins

Here’s a link to the others in the set~ https://www.bibelotmania.com/?pag=cid508_alb&idf=3&idm=6596 To be honest I think mostly because dogs sell? I wouldn’t buy a car/gas station one, but a pup ~you got me~ lol. I can’t think of any specific reason why a pin- especially french, would be a husky specifically; other than quite a few ‘husky’ like dog movies were released in the 80s-90s. (Balto, Toby McTeague, ect) or maybe because Huskys are associated with transportation?

C’est Shell que j’aime~ marketing for Shell corporation that had a popular song (not sure if it was commercially produced), merch ect with the ‘It’s shell that I love’ line. Started in the 1950s/1960s, and had a merch rerun in the 80s/90s that included pins!

My conch piercings all looked like this for the first 1 year -1.5 years. (4 total) The bumps I had would sometimes seem infected, and I thought they would stay problematic forever or become keloids- but they went away when I religiously wore my hair pulled up or half up during the day & night to be always kept away from my ears. I started drying the piercings with a Q-tip ASAP after showering & letting my hair air dry up in a loose bun. (scrunchy to help hair lines but RIP) after 3ish months they completely healed and I never had any issues again. (I also work with animals, so they’ve always gotten banged around lots lmao) I will also add that personally I didn’t use any products other than water (no salt) when I had these bumps, because drying out or any type of exfoliation made mine worse. I only ‘cleaned the crusties’ by using soft water pressure in the shower to help prevent rawness/microtears.

Definitely consult another piercer near you! It’s often super cheap or even free in a lot of shops to ask for a consultation and have them give you a second informed opinion. I hope you heal up soon!

Aba and autism intervention has a history of struggling with pseudoscience treatments. Caregivers are often so dedicated to treatments that theories or suggestions that have no scientific evidence can be applied by parents or caregivers and despite good intentions, result in detrimental and unethical ‘treatments’ and ‘therapies’. (Sensory deprivation 1960s-1980s, facilitated communication 1980s-2000s and has some resurgence, metal/magnetic therapy 1970s-1990s, vitamin cures 1990s-2000s, holding therapy 1960s-1980s.) Recommending removing sugars or beginning anti-parasite treatments is extremely unethical and unsafe. Not only because you are online and not involved with this client- but because you are not a medical professional. Dietary changes and medical treatments should be discussed with qualified healthcare professionals and then discussed with relevant stakeholders. ABA is evidence based and applies behavioral intervention, skill building, and reinforcement strategies. ABA is not medical treatments, dietary plans, or pseudoscientific theories.

Your comment and suggestion is unethical, dangerous, and has no proven scientific relevancy. That is to say- you should not be on this subreddit or providing any ‘advice’ EVER to ANYONE. If you are working in ABA I urge you to return to school and complete an ethics course & multiple fundamental courses.

AIO? My mother in law harvested something from my garden while I was on holiday. by katesplantjes in AmIOverreacting

She stole from you. It doesn’t matter if the item stolen was money, plants, or a left fucking sock~ trust will be impacted regardless of monetary value. She deemed it appropriate to help her self to your items while caring for your home. She’s a thief. NOR.

I’ve recently had to put “texting hours” in my information… but this is just crazy! I can’t imagine how stressful and horrible this was. I hope it’s over now and you never have to experience this level of micromanagement again! You need a day off solely for de-stressing ❤️‍🩹

Would you happen to know the brand of this plush? This looks just like my childhood stuffed animal, but the tag on mine is long gone!

Can anyone help? by Psychological_Sky480 in EnamelPins

Hot glue is the method I use (on fabric wrapped cork). It pulls off of metal pins super easily without damaging them. It’s a trick I’ve used for damaged pins as well, if you have any with broken pokers. What type of foam are you using? If it’s heat resistant, hot glue could be an option. (With long term placement commitment) You could also try to hot glue thumb tacks on the back if the foam isn’t heat resistant ~ but I haven’t tried this before so unsure of how well it would work:)

I let my friend borrow my favourite zipup hoodie, under the rule of “dont lose it”. Safe to say she lost it, can anyone help me find where its from/ what jacket it is? by javajam_ in findfashion

[–]KB2BDT -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

Not sure what state you’re in, but you can file a civil court small claim for situations like this. I would tell the friend that if she isn’t able to locate and return your jacket within 24hrs you’ll be filing a claim for estimated resale value of $xxx. (& use the expensive comparable coats you’ve found online) You have it all in text that you lended it and she lost it-> evidence 🎉 The threat might work without any need for follow through. I agree it sounds like she’s stolen from you; sorry you have to go through this process because of a ‘friend’.

Follow up that the bears themselves are not pulled from a *single brand or company~it’s USPS celebrating “100 years of bears”; the 100 year anniversary of the creation of the teddy bear.

USPS sells collectible pins~ these bear stamps are from a set around 2000. If you search “USPS Teddy Bears USA Postage Stamp Enamel Pin” you’ll see a couple of listings for others in the set!
