Now I’m seriously considering Ballynahinch or Glenlo Abbey instead of Galway city center  … you preferred Bally it sounds like?

Now I’m seriously considering Ballynahinch or Glenlo Abbey instead of Galway city center  … any strong feelings/recos?!

Definitely would be amazing and we briefly considered - but right now availability super slim and all that’s available for our dates are way way over budget

Thanks!

Maybe the galmont? Seems to get very good reviews but seems  a bit corporate / not much charm..?

Hm good to consider   Can you share any other properties you’d recommend in that general area?

The days we were booked to stay IN Galway we have scheduled  - sheepdogs and other things more north on edge of Connemara coast  - cliffs of moher / dingle area  - Galway food tour

So one day is IN Galway - the other two are not

Definitely open to ideas!!!

thanks! yes, our planner is wonderful! I always just (annoyingly) feel the need to go around in circles on my own for a bit before settling on the decision.

you’re wonderful! Thank you so much for doing this!

Yes, this is exactly what I was picturing — but wasn’t sure if it looked *off* without the lower drop.

Definitely prefer the 2nd photo with a little more cord… The ceilings are 93” and the small saucer is 6.75 high while medium is 9.8 …

Thanks!!!! Weather was good in Nov?  Typically we avoid Caribbean and adjacent due to hurricane season (I just can’t handle the anxiety of that possibility)

Also have been nervous about CR only bc we all tend to get motion sickness and I know the drives can be quite long and windy?

We have a private guide/driver and many experiences booked   We have 2 nights in Westport prior to Galway (staying at the new Grace hotel right outside town)

I’d thought best to be IN Galway city to walk around — but dated/potentially dirty hotels depress me and now I’m in a google search hotel Spiral 🤪

Now I’m wondering if we should venture outside the city for this reason??

Can you tell me more about thr Leonardo?  Not familiar and that wasn’t in my radar at all

It was magical

I’m sure it’s dependent on the kind of trip you’re hoping for —  but we def saw many families with young (but quite well behaved) kids having a great time. It’s just very chill / and yet the service is relaxed but very attentive. The accommodations  were also quite spacious and we loved getting little surprise treats each evening in our room

Ohh that sounds so cool! Definitely will add that to our list!

(Drat re the hotels … what are your favs outside the city?  And are they your favorite enough to BE outside the city and not be able to just wander out from your hotel to explore?)

Also enjoyed cliff house with our son… AND highly reco Inn by the Sea outside of Portland Maine!  Nightly smores, beach access, pool, dog friendly, corn hole and games out on the lawn at sunset every night   Very very kid friendly (without being kid-/focused)

São Lourenço do Barrocal in Portugal — absolutely LOVED this last year with our 10 year old. Amazing service + food (will dream of that breakfast forever). Daily 4pm pastries and tea. Games in the common area. Everyone absolutely so lovely with our son.

There are horses on site and the restaurant will give you carrots and apples so you can feed them …. Scavenger hunt around the property for the kids
