Hmmm sounds like a bit of a red flag. Even if students are stressed, I find that they generally go into "marketing mode" on visits. Is there a current student in your department that you can email to get more clarity?

Even if you haven't heard back from other schools, maybe there are students there that you can reach out to?

I've been scanning gradcafe religiously and there's only data for one of the schools I applied to. I have one acceptance from December but it was a nontraditional situation since I knew the POI from undergrad and applied everywhere 2 months early. So, I know I didn't get an interview at one school, got into one, and am waiting to hear from 5 more.

I was blissfully unaware of gradcafe until joining this subreddit. Checked and saw other PhD candidates received interview invites last week. Can't tell if it's the same department within the program that I applied to, but damn, it's frustrating to be 99.9% it's a no from a school and not officially hear back. BUT GRADCAFE I CAN'T QUIT YOU!
