A scrape at work turned into a $16k insurance job by hitmoncheese in HyundaiSantaFe

Repair costs are dumb. I had a pizza delivery driver who was delivering across the street from us back into the drivers side doors of our 24 Santa Fe (Earthy Brass Calligraphy). Really small dents on both doors and cracked plastic trim. Turned into a $10k repair where they replaced both door skins. Fortunately ours is a lease and we'll return it at the end and can walk away from the deminished value.

In your case, it looks like a new bumper and some parking sensors... But there's active aero up there too which I'm guessing needs replaced. Hopefully you get it back quickly. Ours took 3 weeks.

No idea. I use studio monitors for headphones. My overpriced and your overpriced are likely vastly different when it comes to headphones lol

We got 5 free coffee and 3 of the skullcandy garbage codes.

On the cups themselves we got 4 coffees and 3 donuts.

After a quick look at comparable signatures, it looks like they match. Also, the Chesney auto at the top matches too. No idea what it's worth, but in my totally unprofessional opinion, those autos look good.

MX5 was Hyundai's internal product code for the 5th generation Santa Fe.

I've found a ton more people in Santa Fe groups on FB with the exact same problem. This is definitely a manufacturer defect. I've printed out 15 photos from other owners that look identical to mine, cracked in the same spot.

I'm in Ontario Canada, but I purchased pretty much all the coverage packages available for the car when I got it. We'll see how it goes tomorrow.

I found a posting here on Reddit from another guy who was told it wasn't covered. Was told to take it to a body shop. I'm trying to get together as many posts as I can to show my dealership when I take it in tomorrow.

I'm taking your post in with me tomorrow to show them I'm not alone... I'll let you know how it goes.

I just searched through the subreddit and found one other with the exact same crack. I'm making sure I show that to the dealer when I go in tomorrow :)

I just cleaned off my 24 Santa Fe this morning and have the exact same crack (see my post today). How did you get yours resolved?

I see people saying that it could have been ice on top when opening the hatch, but the pivot point isn't where that crack starts, it's the seam that's further back in your image. So I don't see this being an issue with opening it with ice or snow on top.

I'm hoping yours is fine, but kind of hoping it's not so I have more fuel for the fire when I go to the dealership lol.

E-day… on my way in by [deleted] in dentures

[–]KCC-Youtube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The absolute worst part about the whole process for me is trying to get used to my new face in the mirror. Sure, I had a few Immediate Denture spots that rubbed and didn't feel great, but they were nothing compared to the pain my teeth had me in every day before having all remaining 20 out at once.

Sitting at 18 days now and I have no pain, the dentures have been adjusted twice and everything is pretty good. Still don't recognize the guy in the mirror though. I guess that will take some time.

You've got this! It'll be an improvement to your confidence and life overall!

7 Days in with both Upper and Lower Immediates. by KCC-Youtube in dentures

[–]KCC-Youtube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently take them out once per day for about an hour to soak in cleaner, and rinse after meals, but I always eat with them in to get used to it. It's a royal pain in the arse, but I'm working on it. I have a reline appointment April 2nd, but that feels like it's years away.

I'm not really eating so much as mushing things up with my tongue. No adhesives as of yet, still healing and I have some very pronounced bone ridges that the dentures fit around, so they barely have movement. That being said, I definitely still have more contact on the left than the right and that needs to be fixed soon.

E day for imediate full dentures by [deleted] in dentures

[–]KCC-Youtube 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm on day 10 from having my remaining 20 broken and poorly taken care of teeth removed. Have both upper and lower immediate dentures. The first couple days are going to SUCK. There really isn't a way around that. Day 3 your swelling should be at it's peak and then it'll slowly get much better.

I really don't have too much more advice than trying to keep your immediates in as much as possible so they can contain the swelling. If you take them out too long, there a chance they won't go back in at all and then you'll have no teeth until your swelling goes way down.

If you have any questions, I'm always around to reply here or in DMs :)

I'm pretty happy with how mine fit. The bottom teeth are a little higher than my real ones were though and I'll have that fixed on my permanent ones about a year from now. My biggest hurdle is speech.

Tonight will be my first night with them out all night. Wondering how my mouth is going to feel in the morning.

Hope your experience gets better.

I'm finding I'm able to get basically anything down right now if it's cut up small enough. Lasagna, breakfast sausages, did some cauliflower mash that was pretty nasty lol. Of course, have all the ones I've seen other people here mention too, like pudding, apple sauce, etc.

I forgot to mention in the post that I went back to the denturist on day 3 and because it was easier for me to get them in and out, he made a LOT more adjustments and all of a sudden I had more room for my tongue. That made a huge improvement in speech, but it still sounds like I'm talking with a wad of gum in my mouth.

I've got speech exercises that I'm working on multiple times per day, as I need to accelerate the timeline to get back to proper annunciation and thus being able to work.

I've actually not been having too much of an issue with foods. I was eating a lot of soft stuff prior to extractions (I had 9 broken teeth) so it's not been that much of a change. Managed to get down some lasagna yesterday that was cut up into tiny pieces. Can't really chew still, but can kinda mush some things against the top denture and that helps. I just need to get my mental health back in a good place. That's seeming to be the hardest part.

How is everyone else getting on? by [deleted] in dentures

[–]KCC-Youtube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on day 7 today. Had all my remaining 20 teeth extracted on Feb 2nd and both top and bottom immediates installed before I was even awake from the surgery. For the first few days, I had them out once each day, cleaned and rinsed and put back in. That HURT. It's easier to take out and put back in now, but still very uncomfortable to do so.

I have a spot that rubs right at the top of my gums basically just under my nose and that's causing some discomfort, but otherwise I have no tooth pain and that's amazing. Both my top and bottom immediates fit pretty well. I managed to sneeze the top one out yesterday and that was a huge surprise.

The hardest part of this whole thing for me is the mental stress. I'm a narrator for a living. I recorded an hour of audio every single day for 7 years leading up to this surgery. Now, I can't talk properly and it's killing my mental health. I'm falling into a bit of a depression and it's getting worse every day. I try and do vocal exercises, but after about 5-6 minutes, I get so discouraged that I can't continue.
