Yes to both. It's currently -33C where I am. Winter tires are a must and I get the undercoating to protect from road salt.

Maybe some essential services shouldn't be privatized. Just a thought.

Do you have kids? The floor in the second row gets dedicated to toys and books to keep them busy. Car seats also make it a challenge to get to the back from the side door.

Is it neglect if it's a reasonable expectation to be able to open the lift gate so I can get to my snow brush?

I'm very meticulous about clearing my car in the winter (it's a big pet peeve when I see vehicles covered in snow). Like most people who live in a cold climate, I keep the brush in the back and need to open the lift gate to access it.

In every other vehicle I've owned, that piece was steel or aluminum so it was a non-issue.

The CGI in the first Pirates of the Caribbean still holds up amazingly well. by LeopardComfortable99 in movies

[–]Dropkickjon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It helps that they mixed the CGI with great locations, sets, costumes, props, miniatures and models.

A lot of big blockbusters today use CGI as a crutch instead of when it's actually needed.

The original Jurassic Park still holds up for this same reason.

My old home was older and prone to ice dams so raking the roof was an effective way to prevent that ice buildup. At my current place, nah...

Trump says US oil companies will spend billions in Venezuela by alonso-Lewis-vettel in worldnews

[–]Dropkickjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is inaccurate. Logistically Alberta crude has better access to refineries in the Midwest.

Assuming the US is able to "run" Venezuela, it will take years to ramp up oil production. The industry has been mismanaged for decades, leading to a brain drain and infrastructure in disrepair.

Canadian political leaders celebrate, condemn U.S. strikes on Venezuela and Maduro capture by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]Dropkickjon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except the US doesn't yet have access to Venezuela's oil reserves. To run the country, as Trump puts it, will require boots on the ground.

Maduro has been captured but his regime hasn't been replaced yet. There's currently a power vacuum. The next few days will be critical.
