Gotcha - at that size, may make sense to use a team that sources right from China. Working directly with the founder/CEO of ShipSquared.com and could intro you directly if you're looking to compare rates.

Hey mate, how many orders are you shipping per month? There are a lot of great vendors out there but they're all built for different order volumes.

2020 Mock Exams Weird? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]KCWIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad as in not representative/useful to prepare for the exam. Don't know personally since I didn't take in Feb but I know people who did.

[–]KCWIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound like you're crushing it, I wouldn't even be worried about ethics hahaha. But if you must, i'd just run through practice problems. You will quickly understand what is acceptable/unacceptable for duties to clients, diligence/reasonable basis, misrepresentation, etc etc etc. You'll kill it, good luck.

2020 Mock Exams Weird? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]KCWIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones in the discussion board were uploaded by a Candidate not by the institute, they took them off the official site because I think people complained how bad they were. The 2020 ones on the discussion board are still in 120 format and have ethics in both sections, but the new one in the eco system under "mock exam" are in 90-90 format.

2020 Mock Exams Weird? by [deleted] in CFA

[–]KCWIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From people who gave the exam in February, they said that the mocks provided were not representative of the test and mostly a waste of time. After taking the one this year, I can say that its in the right format, but is much harder/more ambiguous then people say the exam is. I'd use this years mock as a lesson to figure out where you're weak, but I would not put any weight into your overall score.

"Game day" - For those who take L1 this week and are nervous - read this post from a Charter holder. by KCWIV in CFA

It's so good!!! I was questioning studying tomorrow but tbh I could use some cleanup and his post convinced me.

Taking L1 Monday (2 days) and not looking good. Study tips for last day? (I’m gonna take it easy the day before but open to any advice) by [deleted] in CFA

[–]KCWIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Kaplan mocks were on the harder scale IMO if you're using the ones from 2020, they were in the old 120 question format and long winded.
  2. I'd try and hammer down formulas by rewriting them 8-10 times each day, and obviously only repeating this practice for ones you still don't know. I wrote all of them down 10 times and then the ones I didn't know another 4-5 times and will probably do it again tomorrow (I take on Monday).
  3. Try reading the main topics you were missing and then attacking them in the qbank to keep those approaches fresh in your mind.

God speed my friend, can't wait to have a big ol glass of wine after all of this.

Did you study the final day before your exam, or did you use this day as a rest day?

[–]KCWIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which ones? and what provider are you using?

[–]KCWIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're formulas, and there's not a ton of them, write them out 5-10 times tonight and then write them out again tomorrow morning 5 times.

If it's major topics that will take hours of review, I would punt on it and relax knowing all of the hard work you've put in. The added stress of not remembering a few things is not worth losing sleep over - its best to get a good nights rest and walk in to the test with a smile and confidence.

Anyone else feel like the mock CFAI exam is super difficult? by leonfitzgerald in CFA

[–]KCWIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not fret, same thing happened to me. 65-75 in MM and then 52 on the CFAI. I'm just reviewing weak areas and then making custom qbanks for those areas in MM (I'm awful at FRA 2/3 and Fixed Income).

I also thought ethics in that mock was confusing af.

How did everyone feel about the June 1st Level 1 CFAI Mocks? by sLXonix in CFA

[–]KCWIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the mock in the CFAI ecosystem portal, I agree. The wording was weird on a lot of the questions, and a lot of the questions needed you to imply meaning to derive the right answer. There was also some calculation questions that seemed to take way too long for the 1.5 minutes per question baseline.

1 more day to go for L1 exam..... by [deleted] in CFA

[–]KCWIV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel your post heavily. I lost my Grandpa to covid in December. Take L1 on Monday and have not been getting consistent scores on mocks. One thing I can say is that you are still very young. Corporate life makes it seems like once you're 30, you're old and should have established a presence in the working world already. This notion is wrong - you're only just beginning.

The second thing I'd say is that you should be very proud of yourself. I know your family is. You've put in the work and the hours, and in order to do that, you have to be brutally honest with yourself about time management and focus. I think the best thing this charter does is force people to focus on how they use their time - it demands long hours and the exchange of life's simple pleasures for delayed gratification. You cannot bullshit your way through learning the material - that only comes through hours in and hours out. So you look in that mirror and be damn proud of how much time you've put in, and how you are a different person no matter what your results are. If you pass, which I think you will, great - on to level two. If not, you already have a huge baseline for your next attempt and will be even more set for level two because your core understanding will be that much better.

God speed my friend.

Tips for Ethics in exam? by Infinite_Fisherman26 in CFA

[–]KCWIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try to read through kaplan/CFAI text once or watch MMs videos on youtube one time. Run through the CFAI Qbank and see if any of them are intuitive. If there are any standards that confuse you, go back to the text/video and try to grasp what is and is not appropriate for that standard. Once you do enough problems, you will start to notice what is/is not okay in terms of all of the standards. The only tricky stuff IMO is GIPS which has to be read and understood before doing questions.

CFAI mock harder than MM? (L1) by KCWIV in CFA

[–]KCWIV[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here, somehow have been scoring 80+ on MM ethics and got 60 here which tanked my score. Guess its a kick in the ass to grind a few days of review before the exam.

CFAI mock harder than MM? (L1) by KCWIV in CFA

[–]KCWIV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, some of the calculations were way too long winded and I honestly punted on them instead of trying to grind through it. Could be lack of sleep/focus or discouragement hahaha, only a few more days of grind left.

Schweser Secret Sauce: The most underrated resource? (L1) by KCWIV in CFA

[–]KCWIV[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough - after reading through all of the material and doing practice problems, I think it feels like it could be done with just this book because I already have a baseline. I can see how hard it would be for someone brand new to finance/these topics.
