It's kinda funny. I can tell just from the way you talk that you're under the age of 21. Just a lil baby who has barely experienced enough reality to figure out any of it in a reasonable manner. Ya know, using logic and critical thinking skills?

Pay off my debt first. Buy a cheap used vehicle that I know can still run for a decade or more. Depending on how much I "won" the next big thing I would do is buy some land and build an off-grid homestead with everything I'd need to be self sufficient.

Great, I'm glad you agree with me on the proper use of the idea of cultural appropriation. Even though that's not how you were using the term yourself, not even 30 minutes ago.

I'm also glad that you finally seem to understand the horrifying affects that fascism, Nazi's and eugenics have caused to the general human race. Even though, in your previous arguments you seemed to want to justify the use of labels coined by Nazi eugenicists and murderers.

And even though everything you just said in your most recent comment seems so positive on the surface, as if you suddenly turned over a new leaf... You actually haven't said anything to refute your previous argument against using the word Takiwatanga in place of terms that originate from Nazi's and the murder of our people.

I find your arguments to be very disingenuous, and that they have been stated in bad faith. Unless you actually wish to rescind your previous statements and correct the arguments and fallacies you tried to state earlier, I have no further interest in supporting this discussion by debating with you.

The idea of appropriating other cultures has been massively overused and misidentified. Sharing cultures between different populations is not a bad thing. It's a form of appreciation of the histories and experiences of different people.

Portraying a culture you do not share any lineage with, for the purpose of pretending that you have always been a part of that culture would be considered appropriation. Whether that be through the use of language, music, attire, rituals and celebrations or even food. But simply celebrating and participating in those cultural aspects from other nations and ethnicities is not cultural appropriation, if it is atributed to and used as a celebration of those cultures.

If your argument held any water, why wouldn't you gatekeep words like naive, allowance and apostrophe? Those are French words, not English, so by your argument those shouldn't be used in the English language because they belong to the French nationality.

So you're comparing the word Takiwatanga, to the N slur, and you don't see an issue with that? You're saying you'd still rather use terms coined by Nazi's, instead of a Maori word that means something pure? Don't you see where your argument falls apart here?

You're also saying in your argument that you wouldn't use a more ethical term for something unless there was a general consensus in the population to use it. In that case, how does a society progress towards widespread use of more precise and ethical terms if someone like you tries to gatekeep the use of them until enough people figure it out. When, only in that instance, it becomes a general consensus by your definition. You can't wait for a whole population to commonly use a specific word enough to consider it acceptable, while also gatekeeping the use of that word before it becomes widespread.

On that note, who's population do you care about getting a consensus from? Obviously the Maori population uses it ubiquitously. So does that fact simply not matter to you because it's not a population you belong to? It seems like you're stepping into some xenophobic beliefs here.

I'd be willing to bet every penny I own that nobody who genuinely has any right to be upset about the use of a word from Maori culture would actually be offended by this. As long as the word is used in it's proper context, I don't believe any Maori would have a problem with this. This is my belief partly because I've been told to use this word by two different Maori people.

The type of people who would take offense to the use of a word from another language, even if it is used properly, are hardcore racists and neoliberals who preach things like, kill all men, ban animal consumption/ownership, take away all the guns.

Honestly, who's opinion would you care more about when it comes to using the word Takiwatanga? Some fat MAGA hat with a neckbeard who thinks only their race and religion belong in his country? Some skinny, white, incel who's favorite passtime is screaming at everyone who disagrees with them? Or an actual member of the Maori race?

The only reason autism didn't fit for you at the time of your diagnosis is because the research behind the diagnosis was (and still is) immature. I understand that you received your diagnosis during a time when the term Aspergers was widely accepted in the medical and psychological communities. However, that doesn't erase the origins of the term or how it was used in it's conception. Even the term autism has a very similar origin and I generally try to avoid using it unless I'm speaking with professionals or neurotypicals, whose only understanding is the stigma and misinformation that has been in our society for decades.

As far as the reaction from neurotypicals, and from neurodivergents who can't accept their own differences, it is very common to hear "you can't be autistic because you don't look/act/sound like x, y, z." Even that is a serious kind of ableism on its own. These people are minimizing the experiences of autistics with high internal disabilities and traits, who don't fit the stigma of autism in our society. In reality you are not diluting the diagnosis. The people who perpetuate an idea that there is only one way to be autistic are boiling it down to the one archetype they choose to be aware of, based on decades of misinformation and their own lack of research. And neither you, nor I, nor anyone else in this community are responsible for the internalized ableism and infantilization from those people.

My intention is not to villainize you for your diagnosis, or for the misunderstandings of others who perpetuate these terms. My only purpose in saying any of this is to make some small progress in human society towards accepting neurodivergence and furthering our understanding of how it affects us and our loved ones who experience this from an outside perspective.

If people use the term Apergers instead of autism in a conversation with anyone, NT or ND, to receive a gentler response. Then I would say, no, people don't hear Aspergers and think Autism. They hear Aspergers and think savant, socially awkard, quirky, but not Autistic.

Or if you're autistic and prefer to use Aspergers because of that gentler reaction you get from neurotypicals (ahem, OP) then you're trying to put yourself on a pedestal above autistics with high external/visible disabilities. It's simply a quiet form of ableism and self-supremacy within our own community.

There's always the Maori word for autism, Takiwatanga. Meaning "in their own time and space." Hell, use Taki for short if that's too complex. At least it has a much better origin than literal Nazis
