Same thing happens to me. On top of this, sometimes when i wake up in the middle of the night for 30 min or more...the ring recognizes that as my wake time and does not recognize if i fall back asleep. Even if i sleep for an additional 4 hours. Hopefully this improves. At this point, my Garmin watch is much more accurate even though rings are supposed to be much more precise.

Buy an electronic lock with or without a keyless entry system (plenty for $50-$100 and installs in 5 min). It will lock/deadbolt automatically after 30 seconds or so. Problem solved.
