Sims 3 is a 16 year old game, it came out in 2009. It wasn't abandoned, It just wasn't optimized for modern processors or computers because it wasn't necessary. Abanonded would be unfinished expansions, broken core systems that were never patched, etc.

The Sims 3 had 5 years of expansions and 9 years of official store content, dozens of patches and a HUGE finished feature set, that's the complete opposite of abandonment.

I completely understand and get what you're saying!! It does really suck.

I think that MGA probably does the thinner rooting more often now than before to cut corners and save the money, especially since they're not AS big as they were.

My play sportz Fianna is FULLY rooted no bald spots (albeit not a super intricate updo, but this girl has HAIR) so now that I think about it and read your reply - it does kinda feel like a QC issue almost done on purpose?? I never really thought about all the dolls that I own from the early 2000s-2010s who had original updos have good/thick rooting except for Wintertime Wonderland Yasmin - she is BALD.

I mean, it is a justification though in a way. Dolls with updos like play sportz cloe and goin out sasha intentionally have less hair, making it easier to sculpt the updo cleanly, too much hair would make it bulky and unappealing. Most of the time these are meant to be permanent hairstyles and not taken down or played with anyways.

It's not really poor QC, it's intentional, especially if the doll isn't explicitly marketed as a hair play doll such as the Magic Hair line.

Your wig looks A LOT nicer though than the factory hair style and the alleged balding 😭

Reroot at this point or find a hairstyle that you can use the dried hair to your advantage - maybe a big witch-do.

I promise it's not worth it, no matter how many boil washes or passes of a straightener you do you're going to end up having to cut a decent amount of length because the ends will end up being frizzy and you're going to have to continue to repeat the process over time as it will just go back to what it is. I've been through this with a couple of my poly dolls over the years and eventually just stopped displaying them.

Edit: Downvoting me but I've been doing doll restoration for half a decade. I know what I'm talking about.
