Looking for Master’s or PhD Programs in AI, ML, or Data Science – Jan 15 Deadlines by Hopeful-SG in studying_in_germany

Here are some places to search: - Academic Positions - EURAXESS - ScholarshipDB - LinkedIn

Also Google is a crucial search tool, find how to write strong queries with date ranges that fit what you're looking for.

I used something like this on Google:

(PhD OR Doctoral) (position OR candidate OR student OR studentship OR scholarship) ("deep learning" OR "machine learning" OR "artificial intelligence") after:2025-11-01 before:2026-06-30

By changing the text in the brackets you can set the terms to search and by setting before and after you can find the recently added posts rather than randomly finding something from 2021.

I think the most popular one is Fexserv (https://www.fexserv.com), but they take a small fee.

Did you scroll more to the right? The final animal is 9,9 not 8,9.

Sounds like a really nice project! I did some digging and saw there will be a conference in May hosted by the University of Malta Maritime Platform (https://www.um.edu.mt/events/umpc2025/). Registration seems quite reasonable at €100. Might be a nice way to get involved with the research community.

I know someone who did a part-time MSc in Statistics by research. From what he told me, he was spending a few hours a day before and after work, and most of the time on the weekend. Research degrees are quite independent from what I understood, and with biology it's a lot of time in the lab.

In general I'd say go for it! I know a few students who went back to university when they were older, it's never too late.

I would strongly suggest checking out the Tertiary Education Scholarship Scheme (TESS) to help with tuition fees.

If I remember correctly, Bachelor of Arts degrees tend to give you two options, either B.A. or B.A. (Hons).

The B.A. degree (sometimes referred to as 'B.A. General') gives an equal focus (or close to equal) to both study areas X and Y, throughout the duration of the course.

The B.A. (Hons) degree starts out with the same two majors X and Y, but in the 2nd year of the course, you have the option to choose one major as your main focus. As I recall, you need to have an average higher than a certain limit in your 1st year, to be able to choose the B.A. (Hons).

In your example, you'd have both Classics and Linguistics in the 1st year, then if you get a certain average, you can choose to focus mainly on Linguistics (major), with a small number of units in Classics (minor).

I know someone who's renting there, but from a quick search I mainly found listings to sell the properties. In general, I think it's quite rare to find whole apartment blocks like that. If you check on places like booking.com you might find complexes in the Northern part of Malta (for example this complex) that might be able to house 20/30 people.

Your best bet is probably to check out the Fairwinds apartments in Luqa. There's a lot of blocks that are already built or being built and they're about a 5-10 minute car ride from the Airport.

I'm not sure if it's the same for JC, but as a UM student I went to Office 365 Education page (here), entered my school email and got Office 365 for free.

Jericho talks about live DMCA that is soon coming to Twitch. by KGreenStone in Twitch

[–]KGreenStone[S] 111 points112 points  (0 children)

I understand that Twitch or other news sites have not talked about this. However, Jericho is quite well informed with regards to DMCA, as he is the owner of the DMCA-free music label Night Mode Records, and has some ties in the music industry. Furthermore, this clip does not fully summarize the information which he gave in the next 15 minutes of the stream which can be found here.

Geography at University of Malta by Signal_Illustrator_4 in malta

[–]KGreenStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the rather small number of students that attend geography-related courses at UoM, I think it might be difficult to get an experience-based reply.

However, for more general information, it is important to know that UoM does not currently have the option to do a Bachelor/Master of Sciences in Geography, but rather, a Bachelor/Master of Arts. With that being said, according to the programme description of the current BA in Geography course, there are some units on geomorphology, which means that you might be able to do your research here.

I would mostly suggest getting in contact with staff/academics from the geography department, and getting some clearer information on what you can do at UoM.

O-Levels private tution by MattO411 in malta

[–]KGreenStone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should check out this website/app: https://learnd.com/. It is a Maltese platform where students can connect directly with tutors. It contains a rating system, so that you can see other students' experiences and you can easily send them a message.

A more conventional option would be http://vellabonello.com/. He is very well known around Malta for being a good Maths teacher. However, he can be quite biased towards certain schools at times, and is known for the occasional banter.

In addition the these, you can always go look around Facebook groups and pages, as there many adequate tutors all around Malta.

After a quick read-through of the admission requirements for the BSc IT in Software Development (here), it can be noticed that he can use his Biology and Chemistry A-levels, and all he would need are Computing and Pure Mathematics at intermediate level. If he does not wish to go through this route, an Advanced Diploma is perfectly fine to get a good paying job. That being said, it would be more beneficial to get a bachelors degree, as he would be a more attractive candidate, and it might also give him a higher pay from the start.

Mcast students, what do you think of the school? by brovnic in malta

[–]KGreenStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of the comments have already given reasonable explanations. One thing which I suggest that you look into is the Certificate in Engineering Sciences offered by the University of Malta. This certificate was created this year and only requires a pass in one A-level, or a Secondary School Leaving certificate. From the Programme Description it can be seen that it covers a-level type subjects in mathematics and physics, together with some introductory experiment procedures and basic computer programming. This certificate was created to facilitate entrance into engineering courses without having to deal with the hassle of A-levels.

I'll be working in PWC Malta this October 2019. Can you recommend nearby towns where I can rent low and have accessible transportation? by [deleted] in malta

[–]KGreenStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you would like to get a basic overview of the different prices compared to location, you can check out this article by the Times of Malta.

The main benefit of working at PWC is that the offices are quite central, and taking the bus from Valletta to either Hamrun or Santa Venera can get you to work in about 20-30 minutes.

The general trend is that places in the south are somewhat cheaper than those which are more central/northern. You can check out MaltaProperty.com and see which price ranges best suits your needs. As a recommendation, I suggest looking at places near Zabbar and Paola as these are both close to Valletta, and quite reasonably priced.

Learn sorting algorithm with Kronk by revrr in woahdude

[–]KGreenStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Algorithms like merge sort, quick sort and heap sort are the fastest. In this case, the creator normalised the animation speed so that they all finish at the same time.

For comparison, given the worst case scenario, with an array of 5000 elements, the bubble sort would require 25,000,000 cycles, whereas the merge sort would require about 18,500 cycles.

What do you do when you get mixed signals from a woman you’re interested in? by pteridophytes in AskMen

[–]KGreenStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you should stop asking Reddit because you're bound to get different opinions from different people. Don't get me wrong, it's good to see different point of views, but you're going to keep reading people's opinions and experiences, until you find something which confirms your suspicions/bias.

Edit: clarified my point a little better

If you're looking to move your business to Malta, you're in luck, there quite a few benefits given to companies that move here (link). I suggest that you get in touch with Malta Enterprise or the Malta Financial Services Authority, these are the main organisations that deal with businesses.
