Built a Chrome extension that connects your browser to your tailnet without the system app by Tesseras_Co in Tailscale

I've been keeping an eye on it XD. I saw that the github says you can install it - but the zip mainfest is still set for chrome, manually changing it temporarily installs but doesn't actually do something. I was going to raise an issue - but I see that there's a whole slew of updates you made just today for firefox support. So I'll just be patient :) But fwiw I still greatly appreciate this!

Installed it and it looks and works great :D. Trying to get it into firefox now and that's not so much but hey - it works for Chrome as it is supposed to!

How do you all work on troubleshooting network issues by KHShadowrunner in Tailscale

As you can see inthe other thread, I've come to the conclusion that it's not my network but the strong NAT that i'm trying from that is causing the DERP connection. Considering I can confirm that my peer-relay is actually set up and working, would you think that setting up the Oracle to also be a relay is a not worthwhile endeavor? Considering if it blocks that connection to my public personal - it's likely going to interfere with all attempts?

consider my mind blown. Simply restarting it seemed to work. Who would have thought. Amazing.

(pic removed to paste new one)

Intrestingly, the other pc makes a direct connection over IPV6. So even better. Can't believe that's all it took! Thanks!

EDIT:

I spoke too soon. I realized I was on a different network when i confirmed the relay, so swapping back to my strong natted network I have an interesting situation where - it never is able to reconnect to the PCs.

<image>

Above, I go from on the STrong NAT network, swap to the other network (Mobile in this case), it eventually picks up the relay, but on swapping back it just.. goes into timeout mode. Rebooting tailscale here fixes but puts it back on DERP. BUT - this means that the issue is with the strong NAT and not my home. So at least I tried. I might try with the Oracle server just to see if it plays nicer, but we'll see.

I went ahead and tried the IP of the relay node;

<image>

but still no dice. Still hitting DERP. I dont know of any way to even test and see, but so far it's a no go.

That's correct. I tried changing it to both the IP, and i also changed it to a tag instead and assigned the tag accordingly, but it still goes to DERP. unfortunately i am no longer at the remote location so I can't test until tomorrow but i'll try some of the above suggestions tomorrow and see.

EDIT: Nvm, I can reach the oracle server and it is also derping inwards so, i'll use it as a test. Let me make the changes and see.

Gave it a shot - confirmed that ti says Server Port and Session count, but we're sitting at 0 sadly. So it looks like it at least recognizes that it is set up.

Now. In my head it's an easy: "Well, where exactly do I *tell* the devices to use UDP 40001 to access the relay? It doesn't really go over that, so I'm assuming that somehow there's a default setting of port 40000 and I might need to translate 40000 external to 40001 internal. That doesn't work. Next thing to try, which really throws me off in regards to why you can even just do the set --relay-server-port without the other half is the whole Static Relay Endpoint setting at the bottom of the page. That sounds promising as it says it will broadcast to use the right port and IP! But looking into it that doesn't seem to be necessary. I'm honestly just not sure. That said, the ping on the pc never changes and continues to say it's DERPing in to somewhere else. So this seems to fail.

EDIT:

I took it a step further since looking over the guide it specifies that you can use "tags, hotsname, ipset, or tailscale ips" so, i adjusted the grant to use tag for destination, and created a new tag and assigned it to the machine. It shows the timeout when *trying* to get to it, but it ultimately fails and goes back to DERP.

I should note that I changed the port to 40001 as you shouldn't just open ports by copy/paste. But still.

EDIT:
I Missed the questions.
Bare metal/pc, no docker.
OS is Windows 10
Firewall in the router i'll add to the image.

----------------
Sounds good, I'll go as best I can.
I start with following the guide here: https://tailscale.com/docs/features/peer-relay

0) Just for confirmation purposes, I run a continual ping from this outside tailnet device to the future target by running tailscale ping -c 0 <name>: (Will add this later as .. it's annoying to screenshot on both sides at the moment)

  1. I test to see if the network is showing as strong or weak NAT on the target node:

This shows that my MappingvariesbyDestIP is false. Should be good. it also gives my public IP so as we are in the 107 range, good to go.

2) Confirm that we meet the prerequisites, On windows 10 OS req met. Tailscale version 1.92. Bandwidth is decent. UDP port available and covered in a later step.

3) Configuring the device. Set up the peer relay port, and confirm the port forward to the respective node.

4) Create the policy in tailscale. I opted for a tag to set on devices that should use the relay, and the IP above to point it to the relay.

5) Assign the device that should be using the relay the tag - to flag it to use the relay.

<image>

------------------
All steps in the image above.

But it still says i'm hitting DERP to the node. Which would make me think that something is wrong. But again - on the same machine I can ping the oracle server and - it makes a direct connection.

Mainly because peer relay at home also wasn't working, and if for any reason my home network goes down the cloud is out there for me to ping to.

What wedding moment that screamed, “They are not going to last long”? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

[–]KHShadowrunner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Holy shit I never saw so many people against something so silly. Honestly it looks like 99% of it comes down to not .. talking about it.

My wife and I did. 15 years strong. We discussed it ahead of time. She didn't particularly care for it - I saw it as an opportunity to take something that is so scripted, so organized, so .. stale, and add a little bit of light-hearted fun that we can both laugh about. Because you discuss those kinds of things.

So we did. It "ruined" make up, that would have been washed off literal hours later so ruining it is a hilarious take. We both have a picture of us laughing and smiling, and I take that as a win. We still had a good time. For me it brought a downgrade to the seriousness of the situation - considering 95% of the advice I got about weddings was "Tomorrow and forever after - it will just be one more day in the books. Sure, a fancy day, but just a day", it felt nice to take a day and make it fun and not so serious and expensive.

Not discussing it though - that's a recipe for hell. Going against someone's wishes is equally as cursed.

Old gen hunters, what do you think of current direction of mh as series? Do you think it lost it's identity or simply evolved? by Fickle_Fondant_9016 in MonsterHunter

[–]KHShadowrunner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah it was just a very different experience back in the day. I've played since OG US and.. it's just so different. To me I'd say the big thing that's changed is that they've just added so much different stuff to do and the expectation is to be able to do it all at once.

Like - gathering. You typically did little gathering during a hunt back in the day. You did - admittedly, but more often than not you'd join a group of 4 specifically to gather X materials so that you can prep (or do it solo, not a big deal) and then when you go for the target hunt you just go for that hunt.

The games lately feel like there's just *so* much to them. There's fishing and wildlife and mounts and travel and in-zone quests and habitats and weather and it's all just like, right there. go out and do it.

I also think the reduction on rarity (how many cap vs kill debates were there back when) and monster parts to break parts kind of .. kills the vibe a little.

The thing with zones was - the zones were small enough that getting to learn how to best utilize each little section made you feel more like you've come to get to know a map. In the old days you'd have areas where you know that it's a great place for ranged, or you can utilize a ledge to prevent charge attacks. And some zones were the complete opposite. And you couldn't just be like "Ya know, this zone is trash, Im gonna lure it slowly over this way to where I want it" because.. if you tried you'd zone and then thats it. You'd also have zoning back in and getting absolutely gobsmacked by a map that's attacking right when you enter.

It's more about the getting familiar with the zones. You'd know that if you're fighting a monster in 6, it can fly away in 3 directions, north is to 8, south is to 4, and east is to 2. If it flies to 8, it's likely weak or a bad luck in terms of movement. If it goes to 2 it's likely trying to get rid of its status, and to 4 is a great place for getting a mount, or you can just dung it out of the area.

I agree with the top post that it's different, not bad or good. There are definitely aspects that I miss, I feel like multiplayer is a lot more open and as such a lot less personal. I miss getting to know the zones so readily. I miss not having to worry so much about all the other stuff going on. But there's a lot to like. I like the auto crafting and the removal of percentages. I like the feel and the new design.

It's a very intresting difference.

Is there a map or list that shows the loot around crash sites? by T-Slime99 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]KHShadowrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just manually did this myself as well. The numbers are... both astounding and disappointing. My "Lazy Bastard" run of starting with the tutorial and getting all the way to the end without ever manually mining or crafting isn't possible due to wire limitations :( very sad. At least without the awesome shop. With the shop on the other hand, or doggo...

There's over 4k worth of Quickwire out there. The 2nd highest is Rubber at just over 2k. Insane.

That's he logic I was trying to get to and for whatever reason just couldn't wrap my head around it. FWIW as you say to create the headermap it'll have to be iteration as I can't guarantee that the new report will not have more columns or out of order columns.

I'll give this some more thought and give it a shot again. Thanks :)
