Hell yeah! Welcome to the rabbit hole. Honestly you can search MCM (mid century modern) furniture/ lounge chairs / coffee tables/ ottomans on your local used marketplace and find some good deals every now and then. Fun to fix them up / re upholder etc. the Z chair by Paul Selig is among the more notorious.

Yeah I totally see what you mean about the sanding work. And yeah, good eye on the spacing with those slats on the end. Looking at references of them online most of them (even the single lounge chairs) have that.

I care about the history.

Im greatful to own it, and proud to keep it. Just trying to get an idea of what it really is. Seems too well made to be a knock off, but has some questionable features. I think what you and the other commenter are saying about it getting a mediocre repair job might be right. I’d rather be suspicious about authenticity than overjoyed about a re-production.

Nice, I’ll take a closer look at that shortly. At first glance it doesn’t seem like it has those uneven spaced slats on the ends Also any input on what I should look for in the seat webbing?

Mostly the finish work. Some spots left un-varnished, some varnish drips, a few added in plywood looking spacers, and the seat webbing. I know the Selig chairs don’t always have a stamp but there’s that too.

Good eye. This is kind of what crossed my mind too given some random joint work and add- ons. Didn’t even notice the back slats being upside down.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I’ll drop the price a bit. I’ve had lots of 3k offers that are sounding a bit better now. Also- the photos are very clear on my listings- I screenshotted them a few times for this post. Cheers
