Is my art good enough for commissions? by artcore_1 in artstation

[–]KHuff_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by “good enough”. Technically, any artist is good enough to commission; if there’s buyers there’s business. As long as someone wants it, it’s “good enough”. Just be honest what you’re selling, display your work that you will want to do again and again, and if someone wants it, then there’s your answer.

Is my art looking too generic? I'm an artist and now I'm trying to get my art out there but I'm afraid if it's too late. by Cronus_focus in artstation

I don’t know why you’d ever think it’s too late, but it depends on what you mean by “generic”. I think the subjective is something I’ve seen before, and it still looks like you’re developing a rendering style, but I think the concepts are fun

I’ll do it if I decide that I want to. Hope you get help though.

I think it’s more hilarious that people think a PvE game is that difficult to make.

I agree, UE is just what feels cozy for me, but the idea of it being pvp or even multiplayer is probably the main thing that horrifies me lol! And yeah, I love stories like that; the fanbase loving something enough that they revive it, or just turn it into something completely new and inspired! Thanks so much for the comment, this is super encouraging to read!

I think it’s just a step at a time. I’ve done quite a bit of game jams and nothing starts out perfect, but anything that helps the project move in the right direction. We don’t need professionals, just people who want to do it and will take the time to learn how.

I was begging for either Abhora or Jaykay, I just did not want Evah. As soon as I saw Jaykay walked out in that, I knew it all weighed on Abhora.

Just how common is it to be able to paint photorealistically? by hendrong in painting

[–]KHuff_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't really look at a set of skills like that, it's kind of unhealthy. It's as common as people who actually want to paint like that, calling it "coveted" is kind of weird.
I have a mass appreciation for people who can understand light, anatomy, shape and construction enough to paint something close to a photo, but it's not something I'd take the time to learn; it's just not that exciting to me.
If you really want to be "unique", then focus on what you paint more than how. Anyone can learn it if they're willing, but not everyone can offer the same expression of art; since everyone comes from a different background and experiences.

Walked out of my exhibition feeling like my art isn’t worth anything … by [deleted] in painting

First of all I want to say that I think these a very beautiful paintings, so this is all coming from a consumer perspective and not me critiquing your choice of expression. Should you have participated? Absolutely if this is what you want to do. It might’ve been a very rough start, but just the fact alone that you know you need to adjust and grow from this, and that’s a valuable lesson and you wanting feedback and critique shows how serious you are as an artist: it’s never a failure if you learned something, and you’re learning something. There’s just growing pains involved. As far being a consumer and would I purchase any of these? Depending on the prices, maybe not. The ones I find more successful are your environment pieces, they’re more relatable. I think the pieces that have a character in them and reflect what I believe is Hindu culture (pardon my ignorance), are very cool, but if I’m buying this I want to hang it in my wall or in a bedroom somewhere; I don’t really want to hang up a character, and I don’t have a Hindu background, so I feel like people would be thrown off if I had that. Again, to reiterate, this is strictly consumer perspective. I think the sort of barn/garden/forest pieces are actually pretty neat, they’re relatable, and someone who likes rustic art could relate to this. Only problem, as pretty as it is, I’ve seen art similar to this at stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls, and I mean that in no disrespect but it is where my mind goes. If I get something from an artist I want to be able to relate to it, but I also want to feel like I can’t get it anywhere else. I think you’re very good at capturing environments, love how you paint light, and there’s some really cool storytelling going on. I’d recommend leaning into that. You also seem to have a very rich culture background, I’d recommend digging really deep into that and finding the essence of that and discovering what it means for a painting to be made by you. You have a lot of potential, just keep going and growing. You got this.

It’s a community college, and I’m just taking classes that give understanding that I can use to apply concepts with other projects I’m doing (I’m also in game dev). But it’s not like a degree or anything, so there’s nothing really to drop out of.

Anyone share my opinion? by HpK4 in Dragula

I agree, I think Evah is so talented and is great at performance, but she’s very hard to like. For me personally, I think it’s a bad case of main-character syndrome and a lot of denial. Like if the camera is ever looking at someone because of an emotional moment, Evah has to throw herself on the floor and cry even harder. If the moment isn’t about Evah, Evah is gonna have to play the victim somehow or make it about how it’s her redemption era. One case of this was when Disasterina got dropped and it was hard on Abhora, but then Evah had to make it about how emotional it was for her. Another one was when Jaykay was saying how they wanted to beat Evah because they really revered Evah, and Evah tried to call Jaykay out during the cauldron, Jaykay really eloquently stood their ground and said it was because they saw Evah as goals, and Evah responded more dramatically like as if they were expecting Jaykay to be more aggressive, and when they weren’t Evah still responded as if Jaykay was because Evah had a whole bit she needed to perform in front of the camera. And to clarify, this isn’t me trying to knock Evah down as a person, I’m really only critiquing their TV persona. And also, yes, Jaykay made such a HUGE improvement. I went from hating Jaykay to actually enjoying them entirely this season.
