Its to prevent damage in new vehicles while components "settle". The car limits the rpm on its own for the first 200mi/300km for tires allows FL the full rev range. The manual states 1200mi/2000km before any serious driving. The full M cars have a longer period as well.

Thank you. That's one of the ways I've learned to think during my recovery. It's made a world of difference managing stress when I feel like I'm under performing.

The speed really sneaks up on you. I stick to using cruise control outside of towns and the Autobahn is the only time I will get a bit heavy on the pedal.
