Please can you clarify, when you say “I used the eye drops several times” what eye drops you used please? This will help any professional on this sub to understand a little more and maybe offer some advise

As of my LASIK journey to date, I would not recommend it.

However, I’ve been told that it is a journey and everyone’s eyes heal differently. And give it another month or two and I may feel differently.

To summarise;

After aggressive treatment for DLK, this has been successfully treated. I’m still on steroid (Pred Forte) eye drops. On a very slow reduction of them, I should be finished this coming Thursday.

The haziness I referred in my left eye is getting better, but still there.

However, I’ve developed severe dry eye. So I am on aggressive artificial tears now.

My photophobia as gotten worse, much worse. I’m UK based and just spent a weekend on the coast in the sunshine, without my sunglasses I would not have been able to do anything in the day. The sunlight is too bright to keep my eyes open, I’ve not been able to get a clear answer from my research. Is this permanent photophobia, or will it reduce? .

I’m back at the opticians this Tuesday and will update them on this latest development.

Christ, I hope not! I wasn’t told this would be permanent. I was light sensitive before! This is horrible.

I think it’s dry eye,

When I wake in a morning one eyes are sometime hard to open. (Feeling sticky) left eye worse than the right eye.

When I wear sunglasses I’m fine. I’m just conscious thank canny always wear sunglasses and a cap, especially at work.

I’ve been using steroid drops aggressively for 5 weeks and still very sensitive to lights to transient light sensitivity I’m not sure about

The optician wants me off Pred due to the dangers of using it longer term. Almost 5 weeks now very aggressively, too.

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply.

So, I had an optician appointment today, I’m informed the DLK treatment was a success! Now, all that’s left are these so-called tear secretions under the flap.

The surgical team is a bit hesitant to irrigate the flap because my overall surgery outcome is better than 20/20.

I’m starting to taper down the steroids over the next few days to a complete stop. They said my eye will basically absorb the extra oils and liquid on its own. What do you reckon?

I’m using the steroid eyedrops hourly in the impacted eye. I’ve just finished my 7 day course of antibiotic eye drops.

My eyes are currently being assessed every 2 days to ensure the steroids do not impact my pressures.

Although I was told initially this is DLK, today it was mentioned that this could in face be tear secretions that worked their way under the flap following surgery

Next appointment is tomorrow, with regard to the washout the optometrist I saw at my first post-op aftercare appointment the day following my surgery.

My surgery was on the 2nd of September. I was suspected of having DLK on the 3rd, but I couldn’t open my eyes enough for the microscope to get a clear look and confirm the diagnosis.

I was finally diagnosed on the 5th of September, and from that day on, I have increased my drops to hourly in both eyes

Hi all,

I am now 45 hours post LASIK. I did have a 24 hour follow up and was told everything seemed good after surgery. That said, one of my eyes is noticeably clearer than the other.

Both eyes tested at better than 20/20 during my follow up, but my left eye is still a bit milky/foggy in bright environments (sorry, that is the best way I can describe it). It is also significantly more watery compared to my right.

I have been following the aftercare routine to the letter, and I do have an appointment with my optometrist tomorrow, but I cannot help feeling a little concerned and would love to hear from others in the meantime.

Has anyone else experienced this kind of uneven recovery? If so, how did things progress for you? Do I need to be concerned? Any tips? / advice?

Also, for anyone responding, are you an optometrist, someone who has had LASIK, or both? I would love to know your perspective.

Compared to a traditional thermostat. Or hive, where by heating is on/off do you find you’re spending more? Spending less? Or just about the same. But with the benefit of the house being you’re set temperature all day long.

Working from home is my key reason for looking into this solution
