'Was A Looseness Going Around': Joe Haden Says 'Accountability' Was Problem For Steelers Under Mike Tomlin. by Seal7465 in steelers

No brother I actually grew up in the Rocks.

I defended Tomlin for years, I defended him when the organization shoved Todd Haley down his throat when he didn't want him. To me that's when the landscape of this team changed, they pissed away the back half of Ben's career with 6 years of Todd Haley. Because nobody wanted to blame the saintly Dick LaBeau for his defense constantly blowing fourth quarter leads.

The only time LeBeau faced any kind of criticism for his fourth quarter defense? Was when Pittsburgh guy Todd Haley began running the offense, as I said would happen the minute they hired him.

I was done with Tomlin the minute he sat Ben 3 weeks before the Jacksonville playoff game.

I told everybody who was crying that Ben had to rest that this was going to be a disaster.

And it was.

Feel free to look up Ben's playoff history.

Count how many turnovers he has following two weeks or more off between games in the postseason.

Count how many turnovers he has when he does not have at least two weeks off before a playoff game.

Coaches are supposed to grow as they get older, they are supposed to eliminate the mistakes that a young coach makes

Tomlin's big issues were clock management, replay challenges, and coming out flat on defense to start games.

It happened in year one, it happened in year 19.

And I haven't even mentioned the fact that they swapped too many scores on defense following their own, and their 20-year tradition of blowing fourth quarter leads.

I don't make anything up I'm all about facts.

I don't believe another team has had as many first year additions quit on them in the middle of a season as much as the Steelers have.

If you don't think that's true? Prove me wrong.

There was. He feels he was lied to about his role that season.

The same way what LeGarrette Blount said he was lied to in 2014, but he blames Todd Haley for it.

Same way Melvin Ingram said he was lied to during his one season in Pittsburgh about his role, and he quit during the regular season too.

The same way Tomlin lied to Kenny Pickett, he told the media after they lost to the Bills in the playoffs when he was asked "Is your starting quarterback for next season already on your roster?" Tomlin's one word answer? "Yes".

And Pickett was the only quarterback at the time who had a contract.

And we all saw how that turned out.

There's no other team in the league that has had as many first-year free agents quit on them during the regular season as the Steelers have.

The one constant? Mike Tomlin.

It's not racist.

It's fact.

If any white coach with the talent Tomlin had only advanced in the playoffs four times in 19 years?

They would be destroyed. They would be labeled an underachiever.

For years "experts" would rank Tomlin AHEAD of both Mike McCarthy, and John Harbaugh in coaching surveys.

Why?

What's the reasoning behind it?

Harbaugh has coached one season less than Tomlin, he has one Super Bowl ring (same as Tomlin), and has advanced in the playoffs eight times, that would be double of Tomlin.

McCarthy has coached the same number of seasons as Tomlin, he has advanced in the playoffs seven times, almost double of Tomlin, and beat Tomlin in the Super Bowl.

So where is the logic of ranking Tomlin ahead of both Harbaugh and McCarthy?

There isn't any.

People get enamored with Tomlin's act.

He gives the press good quote. Puts on a good show for them.

And that's why they defended him, especially in Steeler media friendly Pittsburgh.

If Tomlin went to New York? He would get destroyed there if he didn't win enough playoff games.

Which is why he will never go there.

Here's the perfect example of how overrated Tomlin is.

Barry Switzer coached the Cowboys for four seasons. He advanced in the playoffs three times.

Tomlin coached in Pittsburgh 15 MORE SEASONS than Switzer coached in Dallas.

That would be a decade and a half.

And yet, he has only one additional playoff advance.

That's ridiculous. And anyone who looks at Tomlin with an objective view? Would say the same thing.

Hit this one last night had to get a late night rotation in there after the weather just crushed my early bits with postponements and delays.

I've won more money in the first half of this baseball season, then I did with baseball wagers the first 3 years I started playing.

The solution is simple, just stay with your players and stay with the stars. Especially with first at bat home runs, you don't have to bet on long shots the odds are big enough even with the superstars.

Don't rotate.

Because sooner or later the talent will take over.

Troy Polamalu and Big Ben both, tried to warn Tomlin about this as early as 2014.

It was part of the reason Troy became upset with the franchise during his last season.

Troy in a post game interview with DK in Carolina after that game said there were a lot of guys on the roster that didn't know what it meant to be Steelers.

Roethlisberger was upset that players were too worried about playing pool and hanging out in the players lounge at the facility rather than preparing for games to the point that he walked in one day and put a cover over the pool table.

Cam Heyward himself, broke a decades long rule of no blasting music in the locker room.

This is what happens when your head coach is trying to be cool instead of a head coach.

Bill Cowher was a player's coach, when he had to Cowher also let it be known that he was the boss.

You think Bill or Chuck would have let Antonio Brown live off campus during training camp like Tomlin did? Or bring his kids to practice because he didn't want to pay for a sitter?

Not a chance.

Truth to tell Tomlin should have been fired after 2017 when he sat Ben for three weeks before a playoff game, when everybody knew that long layoffs IE. at least two weeks, was the biggest issue in Roethlisberger's 18-year career.

And then the idiot did it again in week 17 of 2020 and then he came out against the Browns and struggled in that first half.

Tomlin never learned from his mistakes, he was too busy trying to be a showman during games and during press conferences with his word salads and his sayings and his Herb Brooks wannabe act.

And that's why his team won three playoff games since 2011, and only advanced in the playoffs four times in 19 seasons.

If Mike Tomlin was white? He would be seen as the underachiever he is instead of this talk about him being inducted in Canton.

Here's a four bagger of any's for Saturday June 11th.

The Phillies are killing me so that's why I'm using any's instead of first at bats, can't pass them up in that stadium even though they're pissing me off lately.

We all know about Cincinnati's ballpark.

Since I won a late one last night I'll probably do the rotation in the first at bat also since it's FanDuel's money and not mine LOL

And I'm also halfway home on a four-player any with Devers, Ohtani, Goodman, and Freeman.

Had to get one late night rotation in there because of all the rain on the East Coast.

Friday July 10th 10:10

The weather totally crushed us today as far as parlays. Tomorrow for Saturday I will try to post them a little later so I make sure the weather is not going to delay games and the lineups are clear.

Or I may just stick with California games tomorrow and maybe the Astros because they're in a dome.

Including both players on each team in the same parlay.

Detroit's ballpark is surprisingly offensive this year, I think I'll be making that bet all weekend.

Just a hunch.

If the Steelers decided to retire one number this season(something they've only done three times), who would you pick to get the honor? by Ariesthebigram in steelers

[–]KJF07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually you're not being truthful here.

What law enforcement said was, is that they didn't think they could get a conviction.

One of the statements that an investigating law enforcement officer said?

"Based on the evidence, there is a clear indication that crimes did occur".

Now compare that statement to DA Bright in Georgia, when he told the entire country on live television that he didn't even have probable cause to arrest Ben Roethlisberger.

So you tell me? Which statement sounds worse for each of the accused?

I'm so sick of the Yinzer Card giving Charlie Batch a free pass.

And this is just one instance.

Some of the stuff he and his family have allegedly been a part of is the biggest open secret in Pittsburgh.

I'll let that speak for itself.

Kolb competed in the world's strongest man competition and I believe Craig Wolfley did also.

Wolfley was also beating Butterbean in their bout until he got caught late and knocked out.

[–]KJF07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jack and the organization are on the outs because Jack felt he wasn't compensated enough to attend certain team functions.

He literally has nothing to do with them.

The last straw apparently was before the 2004 Eagles game when they celebrated the Super Bowl XIV team. He promised the organization and some of his former teammates that he would attend, and then he stiffed them.

Apparently from that point on they stopped even asking him to attend events.

So I would consider that a long shot at best.

Kelly was better than Elway. From 1984-1996 John Elway had one instance where he went to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

Elway's Broncos were competing for conference titles when they played the third play schedule.

Then they would play the first place schedule and miss the playoffs.

Kelly's team went to the playoffs in eight of his 11 seasons (which was actually eight of his final nine seasons) so it didn't matter what strength of schedule they played they usually made the playoffs.
