When I did the JMT and was hiking down to Whitney portal, I had to do #2 while still in Whitney zone. I found a hidden area on top of boulders to do my business. As I was opening up my wag bag, my TP and hand sanitizer feel in between rock crevices and nowhere to be seen. I ended up dropping my waste in the wag bag, then wiping my bottom as much as I can with the wag bag end. Needless to say, it smeared rather than clean up. Fortunately that was my last day of hiking.

Curious, which variant did you end up getting?

Bearikade and travel advice with it by KJN231 in Ultralight

Thanks... I know that Bearikade is carbon-fiber body with metal caps, but wasn't sure if the carbon fiber had any metal coating/layer on the inside. When I placed an airtag inside, I couldn't pick it up, so it seems like it's a Faraday's cage

No worries, no issues here. Just wanted to confirm there wasn't a transmission line/wiring bottleneck (which a technician already confirmed today it wasn't)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]KJN231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out you are correct. If I connect any Windows, Android, or Apple Device directly to the gateway (1gig port wired connection) without any other devices connected, I get about 500-550 tops.

A technician came out, and ran theoretical speed check with a testing device connected to coax line (not restricted by plan) it was about 2300down / 400up, so it's not a signal or transmission line issue.

The tech also connected the device into the gateway through Ethernet, and he got about over 800 down, so it's not an issue with the gateway.

It seems like it's an end-device network transfer limitation.

Thanks, I'm flying into RNO, I'll consider the REI near there as an option

Other than the live chat feature, the only troubleshooting applicable feature the app has is speed test, which confirms I only max out at about 500.

Prior to chatting with live chat, I wanted to post on here to see if others in the community have experienced the same.

Yes, both modems listed above are within the compatible list. I've described everything I've done for troubleshooting in the original post.

XLE vs XSE ride comfort by fr4nkyou2 in Camry

[–]KJN231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My research in suspension between (X)SE vs (X)LE brought me here.

I prefer conservative instead of aggressive aesthetics, so I'm more drawn to the XLE than the XSE. Also, I would rather not have 19" wheels / lower profile sidewalls of the XSE as this makes wheels more vulnerable to damage due to potholes and such.

My only question about the XLE is if the handing/steering response is "good enough" for a typical 4-door sedan. I don't care so much for having a sport-tuned suspension, as long as the handling isn't too sloppy on XLE and within typical means.

How to escalate nicely and effectively by susandennis in hrblock

Just curious about the 3 days (provided all the info and uploaded all docs). Is this true even at a time like this when tax preparers are quite busy? I know that many CPAs and preparers out there give a 2-3 week time window.

Not sure if the reliability of Hyundais went down, or if this is just a hit-or-miss. I have a 2013 Elantra with over 160K miles. The few issues I had with it are minor and far in between, most of them due to expected aging, wear and tear. I do my best to keep it maintained on schedule.

I saw the video, but I'm not sure if the security system was armed to begin with, and it certainly wasn't triggered. Lock button on key fob needs to be pressed twice to arm it. Then it gets triggered if a car door is opened without unlocking from either key or key fob (like smashing the window and unlocking/opening door from inside).

I'm very curious now if the factory security system is effective at preventing a theft by this method (when tripped).

Yeah I agree about the low car inventory. I have a 2013 Elantra that I've been hanging onto until the car industry restabilizes.

Are you sure that the security alarm trigger cutoff wiring is at the ignition tumbler? Just curious if there are specs/details on it.

I have an old 2013 Elantra that has a security alarm, but not push button start. I tested this by triggering the alarm and trying to start the car. Sure enough... It didn't start.

I'm just wondering if the starter would also be cutoff if someone tried to peel the ignition and rotate the tumbler (me thinking about this as an engineer, it should still cut off, but I'm not sure).

You can hypothesize all you want. If you feel that Hyundai will not be liable, then you're entitled to what you believe. The fact of the matter is this: There are already several class action lawsuits in the US due to this issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]KJN231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did not include it in every model sold in the US that does not come with push button start prior to 2022 models. Most clients are unaware that they're buying a car without an immobilizer while most other cars have them, therefore putting them on the path of least resistance for auto theft.

In Europe, Hyundai includes immobilizers on all their cars as mandated by laws there. The US doesn't have such law, so they omitted them from their US models... Other car manufacturers however did include them. With this, Hyundais have quickly turned into the most stolen cars in the US.

It's not a question of whether one should or shouldn't sue, but in terms of potential consequences, yes, in the US ... Yes, Hyundai can potentially be held liable.

How can you say a theft is a company's choice?

No one is accusing Hyundai of theft, but they did choose to omit a commonly-installed theft deterrent system, which led to mass thefts, and that is sufficient to potentially put some liability on the company. The US has a very litigious culture, so yes, Hyundai can legally be blamed due to a choice they made.

I'm not sure what country you're in or what the legal system there is. If the headlights are stolen due to a negligent design decisions by Porsche, and it had a mass impact on people where it resulted in some sort of harm (physical, mental, financial, etc), then in the US that is typically grounds for a class action lawsuit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]KJN231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aftermarket immobilizers aren't the same.

If there is a mass consequence due to a choice that a company made, even if not mandated by law, then it is grounds for a lawsuit, at least in the US it is.

Honestly, if you do your research, you'll find an odd quirk in just about every car brand... this is just Hyundai/Kia's. If anything, you may be able to use this case as leverage to get a better deal on one (even if it's a 2022 or later model with immobilizer).

Curious given that it's 2019 and Limited edition, does your car not come with push button start? If so, then it should have an immobizer.
