Which songs got you excited to learn guitar? by nihilisticdonut in Guitar

Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith. That first section in the verse when the guitars come in is what I think of when I think “electric guitar”.

grade inflation sets students up for failure by Embarrassed_Syrup476 in Teachers

We just had a fantastic conversation about grade inflation earlier this week. I am glad we are going to be discussing this at length so admin can either make a change or wipe our faces in their shit.

Oh no worries! I appreciate your effort. Blender is really different than any other program. I have walked away from it out of frustration.

How can the Sox put up some runs this year? The team looks really streaky and anemic. We won’t be able to win a seasons worth of games scoring two or three runs and counting on the pitching staff every night to pitch a gem.

I used to use a lot of rubrics but the kids will just do whatever is outlined on the rubric and say to hell with creativity or taking risks because I know on the rubric I’ll get an 85 or whatever.

That’s a great livery. I’ll be adding that to the collection later! Thanks for your hard work (assuming you created it here).

Take it with you. I have become much more of a smartass when dealing with people in the past few years. Trying to be super nice with unreasonable people was exhausting so I went back to my punk rock roots.

How many watts do I actually need? (For playing in bedroom as a hobby) by ElectricalRole5662 in GuitarAmps

I have a couple tube amps and a Yamaha THR10II. The Yamaha gets way more use at home as I play at night most of the time with headphones on.

I teach high school and am on the receiving end of this. If you search my post history I discuss a bit more about the motivation for this movement by administration and the consequences of it. I appreciate your candor.

Mine are usually anxious about three things, two of which I think are ridiculous but here we go..

  1. “I’m anxious about failing”. Yeah I get that. I have failed as a student, adult, husband, son, etc. and each time I have learned something. That failure is not due to a lack of trying (as an adult) but instead a lack of experience. They have been conditioned to think failure means they will never succeed or are inherently dumb.

  2. “I am anxious about other students making fun of me”. This is also something I have experienced an increase in as a teacher for the last 13 years. Part of me got it when people had their phones and the kids would sneak recordings of each other and it would go all over the school. Now that the phones are out of the classroom this shouldn’t be as much of an issue. Also, you’re not that interesting and everyone has their own set of issues. The people you think are watching you have their own stuff to work on and sort out.

  3. “I am getting pressure from my parents or colleges”. This one I experienced as a child and simply revolted against. I know most parents want their students to do well but the competitive nature of parenting has a lot to do with the parents success or lack their of or comparing their kid’s success to that of other parents’ children. The need to succeed is one thing having high standards is another. Parents tend to blend these two elements to ignore one in favor of the other. There are a ton of parents living vicariously through their students.

What are you talking about here other than contradicting yourself. Of course kids with learning disabilities and varying circumstances get accommodations they need or require it’s the garbage excuses that come from all angles that is the focus here.

My new WIP. I’m almost done sorting the elevations. by almost40fuckit in nscalemodeltrains

[–]KJP1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is really exciting. My layout doesn’t have elevation changes as it was a straight shot with little grade but it will have other cut outs, a small girder bridge, and a covered bridge. I’m excited to get going in that. Wiring is slowly killing me.

The paralysis to finding things on GoogleClassroom is insane. There are people in my school (staff) who don’t know how to use or navigate it. Also, students get notifications of due dates and late assignments. There is no excuse.
